What is next for BB?

BB is not taking a booth or behind the scenes job and any suggestion that he'd want less than he had for the last 2 decades is wishcasting in the hopes of seeing him remain in the game. His decline of the 49ers opportunity is completely consistent with everything we know about BB and what he probably wants.
I don't think we know this about BB at all. I tend to agree that BB would want total control if he's going to take another HC gig, although if no team will give him that and he really wants to catch Shula that might change.

But it wouldn't have surprised me if he did some kind of consulting or behind the scenes work for a team, just to stay in the game but without the rigor of being an actual full time coach. In fact if you told me he wasn't going to be a HC in 2024 I would have bet on him doing something like that as opposed to a media job.

I would also add: the "Bill would need total control" narrative is based on what people have surmised. I believe he actually explicitly told Atlanta he wouldn't insist on total control but nobody in their FO believed him or thought they could hire him as just a coach.

Meanwhile, Kyle Shanahan was comfortable enough in his own skin to ask the best coach in NFL history to be on his staff doing any job he wanted because he seemed to feel having Bill around could help him get his team over the top. Point: Shanahan (IMO).

True on Shanahan although I'm not sure it would have been his best move. For all his success he hasnt won anything and BB sitting in the wings would be pretty attractive for an owner looking to get over the final hurdle. In the end, I think it's better for both guys they it didn't happen. I 100% believe if Bill wants to HC next year he will have an opportunity.

I hate to say it but i think we will be missing him in a few months time. I'm anxious to get to the first preseason game because i literally want to see if Mayo can coach, I'm more so wanting to see if this coaching staff has the ability more so then the current roster and players to put together a good game plan and execute it!

Don’t know where to put this but BB confirms that Ernie was a huge part of the in game adjustments - losing Ernie and Dante was a killer for BB

Ernie probably had a million charts, he just didn't show them to BB. He took his Pink Stripes analysis and made it digestible for the guy upstairs.

So the debate of BB vs Brady was flawed, it was actually Ernie vs Brady since Bill went downhill after his advisor left him and couldn't make a decision on his own?

There was some 98.5 talk yesterday about the Bengals as a potential coaching destination for BB. Zolak spoke about how BB would stop and unload all the busses as they were leaving Cincy to visit a statue (Paul Brown's presumably).

Wasn't sure where to put this, but Albert Breer was on the Dan Patrick radio show this morning and, citing Belichick's connections to the Khan family, said that he wouldn't be surprised if BB was given the keys to the organization by 2025 if the Jaguars don't turn it around

Breer/Jaguars/BB begins at Hour 3, 27:15
