I give Cooks a B+ as he’s basically been exactly as I expected after watching him in New Orleans and his numbers with us are pretty similar less a few catches. He also played all 16 games, which we really needed given the WR situation and Dorsett’s complete no show this year. Obviously don’t have Edelman/Amendola level of playoff trust in him yet but hopefully yesterday was just a hiccup. If the Pats can make it to the SB, he’ll be a huge weapon in that dome.

Even though we all bitch about him in the game threads, I think he's had a really good year. The offense probably would have been in serious trouble without him after Edelman and Hogan went down.

I'm glad he's here, but I echo the other comments. He needs to be open to catch a pass, because he often completely stops fighting for the ball after contact. He draws plenty of PI calls that way, but I think he's missed out on a few because he takes himself out of the play.

I desparately want to see the Edelman/Gronkowski/Cooks short/intermediate/long game next season. With a splash of Bennett mixed in too, if we're lucky.

To say Cooks was a disappointment is grading on a really harsh curve. He was 11th in the league in yards, 7th in YPC, tied for 19th in receiving TDs.

Patriots receivers who have put up 1000 yard seasons in their first year in this offense:

Randy Moss 2007
Wes Walker 2007
Brandin Cooks 2017

Fewest targets for a Patriots 1000 yard receiver:

Rob Gronkowski 2017 - 105
Brandin Cooks 2017 - 114
Terry Glenn 1999 - 115

Youngest Patriots 1000 yard receivers:

Rob Gronkowski 2011 - 22
Terry Glenn 1996 - 22
Brandin Cooks 2017 - 24

He’s not Randy Moss and he’s not perfect, but he put up a damn impressive season and I expect him to be even better in future years when the offense has all its weapons.

At a glance, it looks like Cook was 4th in the league in DPI yards, at 141. Behind only Marvin Jones, Deandre Hopkins and Antonio Brown.

Gronk was 5th, with 126 (no other TE had more than 40).

See Gronk gets all the calls!

He's bad with the ball and it cost a critical first down in the red zone and got him concussed in the Super Bowl. I feel bad for him but talk about self-inflicted wounds. curious how he'll fit in in year two with Jules back.

Lol really? He gets concussed and this is the takeaway? It's fucking football, he reversed field looking for extra yardage IN THE SUPER BOWL and got hit.

Cooks deserves credit for holding on to the ball after that vicious hit. He’s a tough mofo.

Hated the attempt at leap-frogging the defender earlier in the game, though. 1-on-1 in the open field, you have to try to juke that guy out of his cleats.

4 defenders were right there and he was at midfield. first down already. there was no reason to do anything but dive ahead for the extra yard and call it a play

Cooks had no idea that guy was there. Were he aware, I think he would have done what you suggest.

Beady has his highest percentage of passing yards from long passes in years this season. Or something relevant like that.

Maybe he didn't see him, but you can't turn back into the teeth of the defense there and not expect to get slammed. I hope he's OK.

Cooks plays for the New England Patriots, one of the most successful teams in the NFL, and is known as one of the fastest guys in the league. He took the field for the Super Bowl championship against the Philadelphia Eagles last month but had to leave the field after suffering a head knock.
