When was the last time the Red Sox didn't play on game on Labor Day? And when was the last time they didn't play on a Friday night not counting London trip?

There was a season a few years back where MLB experimented with a lot of 2-game series. The experiment was declared a failure.

To note, glimpsing at the 2020 schedule, it's decidedly less weird with the days off.

I understand players need more days off, but Fridays should be untouched. Maybe more Tuesdays & Wednesdays?

(Hopefully we don't get smacked with a long west coast trip to start again for awhile. although it's clear that didn't really matter in the end, a better team would have survived that trip fine)

Mobile, AL
Wasn't this the 2nd Friday this season already that they didn't have a game?

-edit : Yes - June 28th before the London series - so extenuating circumstances there.

One thing to note is they aren’t the defending champs when the schedule comes out.
