If you became a baseball fan when I did (mid-to-late 1980s) there were two guys who always killed the Red Sox: Rickey Henderson and Jose Canseco. Always. Even though they were well passed their prime, having them on the Red Sox and rooting for them was a weird experience.

What player looked strange to you in a Sox uniform?

Town
This is one I forget about sometimes - but the dude went on to win over 200 games after the Red Sox traded him at the age of 33:

Man...you're OLD!

My bad, I didn't realize this was a during your lifetime thing. I have a picture somewhere of Ricky Henderson and Manny Ramirez walking out of the SkyDome together. Henderson was wearing some kind of a Hawaiian print with palm trees on it. They walked as fast as they could by the fans waiting for autographs and got in the same car as some middle reliever was practically begging to give away his autograph.

As for during my lifetime:

It's not necessarily. No worries.

The Embedded Yankee-- Mike Torrez

Come on. Torrez pitched in 31 games for the Yankees. He pitched in 161 games for the Red Sox, more than any other team he played for in his long and pretty successful career (185 wins).

He's much more a Red Sox than a Yankee.

I would cut him some slack in the "looked strange to you" category.  Torrez came over after the 1977 WS victory by the Yankees.  I remember putting his baseball card on my dartboard.

Oh I know. Torrez won 2 games in the WS for the Yankees, and I think he caught the last out of that WS on a little pop up.

He gave up the Dent HR, of course, and was terrible against the Yankees throughout his career (1-10 against them).

Hey guys, we don't all recognize every guy who played a short time with the Sox, so if the player's name isn't in the picture, how about a little hint so we can nod our heads along with you?

This guy seemed alittle strange in a Sox Uni to a younger me

But this guy REALLY seemed strange to me

Manny can still bring it:

“Let me ask you a question,” Ramirez said. “I’m 41 years old and you’re asking me if I could still hit the way I used to hit. Nobody is going to hit like when they were 25, 27 or 30 when they’re 41 years old. I don’t care how good you are. It’s not going to happen. But you can contribute in other ways.”
That's a question?
