Surprised no team has followed the Titans and put all skill players on the field, especially a team with a rugby superstar.

Kaepernick wastes a timeout with 2 seconds left in the 3rd quarter
Giants score to take the lead with ~20 seconds left in the 4th
Niners get three plays off, including a checkdown pass that's about 5 yards and stays inbounds

Niners end the game with 2 timeouts on the board, and the one timeout they did use gave Eli enough leeway to luck comfortably into a game-winning touchdown

unbelievable

Giants next four: @ Eagles (Monday night), host Cowboys, @ Saints, @ Buccaneers

They easily could be 7-2 going into their home game against the Pats

Eli really is the aww shucks doofus that Peyton pretends to be.
He's right out of central casting; the perfect corn fed hayseed.

As I tuned in just in time to see the interception that wasn't, then the intentional grounding that was but wasn't called, I tuned right back out as I've seen this movie before and know the ending all too well.

51 dump off yards for Vereen on that last drive. Exactly what I feared would happen once the Giants signed him. Perfect player for Eli.
Wouldn't have mattered if the DB catches the stupid lob. Give Eli the best players in the world and he will still try to give the game away atleast once. The other team just needs to take it.

What?

Green Bay, Denver, Cincy? Maybe they shouldn't all be undefeated, but "frauds" is way overstating it.

Going 7-2 would be a big mistake for the Giants. They are never truly Super Bowl hopefuls until a decent losing streak puts them and particularly Coughlin on the brink before turning their season around.

Green Bay is legit, a less than perfect game from Rodgers today not withstanding.

So, if you stand by your comment, you believe Green Bay is a complete fraud ... whether you remembered them or not

Imagine being a Dallas sports fan and watching the Patriots dismantle your team, Rangers lose to Blue Jays, and then watch the hated Giants win in lucky fashion once again. Of course, being a KC sports fan sucked pretty hard today too. Blew game to awful Bears team, lost Charles for season, and lost to Astros in baseball.

Tough call, but since the Rangers still lead that series -- and the Jays are starting Dickey in Arlington -- KC has the edge in bitterness

Could be 4-5 too. Can't see them losing to Weeden but they will be dogs to Philly and not big favorites in the other two. They seem to be on a mission to fuck up about as many game management situations as possible this year.

There's a lot of truth to this; in order for them to be considered true Super Bowl hopefuls, it's imperative they end the season at 9-7, 8-8, burping and farting their way down the stretch in the process.

If they end up 14-2 like they did in 2008, they'll get knocked out in the first round again.......................

12-4. However, the point remains. But that was the Plexiglass shooting himself season.

GB/DEN/CIN are complete frauds but Arizona, who was in a one-score game at home against the Saints with a minute and a half left and lost to the Rams at home, isn't? Sure thing.

Pretty sure Eli and his brother will see to it that they don't end up 16-0 again; I'm not a betting man, but if I was, I'd wager that 14-2 with a loss to the Giants and the Broncos will do it.

Thanks to those two bozos, the Patriots are short three Lombardis.  I'm extremely grateful for the four, but seven would be sweeter.

if you're counting livelihoods based on regular season performance, the Patriots never win the first one and probably don't repeat in 2004.

If Rapunzel wasn't a fairy tale, her hair would be ripped out from the root if someone tried to use it as a climbing rope.

I don't know the teams besides hearing from other people, but The 1986 New York Football Giants were a pretty dominant team.  The 1990 team won with the difference being the famous Scott Norwood kick, but the championship game (which is probably one of the greatest games of all time) came down to an improbable finish and fourth quarter field goal kicks from the Giants.

2007 and 2011 both had championship game that were decided by overtime field goal kicks by the New York Football Giants.

I guess the best way I can say it is I'm going to enjoy the Eli Manning era, because I already know once it is gone I will look back longingly for it to happen again.

A lot of New York Football Giants fans, I would say the majority, still love Bill Belichick.  Good luck on winning more Super Bowls with Belichick/Brady.  They'll be regarded as the best, or one of the best in due time.

Hoo-hoo-hoo hoosier land.
If the Broncos beat the Pats this year, it won't be because of Peyton; it will be on the back of a scary pass defense.

I highly doubt that the Pats will go 16-0. They'll lose one to one of the decent teams they still have on the schedule (Colts, Giants, Broncos) and then one random divisional game. 16-0 has only happened once for a reason.

You need luck to go unbeaten. Part of that luck is the schedule. The Pats have gotten some luck on that score -- @DAL and @IND looked like they would be the two toughest games on the slate before the season began.

They probably won't go undefeated -- they still have @NYG, @DEN, and @NYJ (in a Week 16 tilt that's likely to be more important for the Jets than the Pats), plus home games with BUF and PHI (which I think is going to get their shit together and be closer to what we expected than to what we've seen so far). It's unlikely that the Pats will win all those games, but 14-2 or even 15-1 is a distinct possibility.

Just need to get the #1 seed and make them have to come to Foxboro in the playoffs.  16-0 would be icing on the cake.

Cincy and Denver look like they'll be serious threats on this front.

Cincy:  5-0
at Buf
bye
at Pit
vs Cle
vs Hou
at Ari
vs StL
at Cle
vs Pit
at SF
at Den
vs Bal

They look to have a few tough ones in there:  at Den, at Ari, and maybe at Buf.

Den:  5-0
at Cle
bye
vs GB
at Ind
vs KC
at Chi
vs NE
at SD
vs Oak
at Pit
vs Cin
vs SD

I think they have more challenges:  vs GB, at Ind (if Luck is back he could give them problems), vs NE, at SD, at Pit, vs Cin.

Take out the NE/Den game, and I could see Denver losing 2 of those other games for sure.  Maybe 3.  But if NE ends up 14-2, and Denver ends up 14-2, but Denver wins the H2H game against NE, then obviously they get HFA over NE.  So that NE-Den game might be huge.  That said, I could see Denver beating NE but still going 13-3, while NE finishes 14-2, even with the loss to Den.  So who knows.

Cindy seems like they could go 14-2.  So it looks like a three-horse race.  It sure would be nice if NE played Cincy so we could knock them down a peg.  Oh well.

Exactly.  I know this is a message board, so speculation is what we do, and I generally don't have a problem with it, but I do think there is a point when even speculating on a message board is problematic.

Yes, Denver might win 14 or 15 games.  Then again, they haven't truly outplayed a team yet and their opponents have what, a combined 6 wins?  Add in the fact that some of their older players are known for wearing down over the course of a season (Manning, Ware, Talib in particular) and it's possible that instead of winning 14 or 15, perhaps they only win 10.

Cincy has been more impressive so far, but Dalton will need to continue his high play, and that division is tough, especially if the rapist returns healthy.

If I were a betting man (and I'm not anymore), based on how the NFL works, I would bet the top few teams in the AFC will finish with 11-13 wins instead of 14 or 15.

I'm a Steelers' fan and have been bemoaning the strength of our schedule, but Cincy's is even worse -- the Texans game is the only game on that list I look at and say "yeah, it would be a big upset if they lost that one." The Bengals have a huge head start and will win the AFCN, but I think 12-4 is a best-case scenario for them, with 10-11 wins being a more likely outcome.

It's hard for me to see Denver finishing better than 12-4 either. Four of Denver's five wins were one-score games; the fifth was against a team that hasn't beaten anyone yet (Detroit). The Broncos play at home against their three toughest remaining opponents (GB, NE, CIN), but the flip side of that is they must go on the road to play games that might be gimmes at home (CLE and CIN, plus IND if Luck isn't healthy by then).

The Pats, on the other hand, have an excellent chance to be 8-0 heading into the Meadowlands to face the Giants. The second half schedule gets tougher, but 13-3 seems eminently reachable, which would likely be enough to secure HFA. And as I said above, 14-2 and 15-1 don't seem out of the realm of possibility.

It's still early.

The 2002 Patriots looked like world beaters through the first three games of the season only to lose 5 of the next 7.

It's perfectly fine for fans to look ahead, so long as the players take it one day at a time.

Antonio Gates says he didn't watch any of the Chargers' games so far this season while he has been suspended, because he didn't want to hear what people were saying about him.  What the hell?  Just put the game on mute.

Steelers run the wildcat with Bell and D'Angelo Williams.

Gruden: "You'll see these kind of plays with Vick."

Vick, of course, had nothing to do with it.
