Mane needs to stop holding the ball so much. Just move the ball. The only guy allowed to hold the ball in tight space is Firmino.

At least Philips look lively since coming on.

Every time Phillips goes up for a header, he ends up on the ground.

For fuck's sake, half a dozen times now Jones or one of the front three will run at an Everton midfielder and get past them, then slide the ball sideways out to the wing for a (wait for it) aimless floated cross towards the back post that is dealt with be one of Everton's back 3.

Gomes has to be substituted for Allan at half

If that is a foul why isn't it a red card by the Luiz standard? He isn't attempting to play the ball at the point the foul occurs.

IMO, it shouldn't have been a foul to begin with. Once DCL has shot and TAA has slid, its now on DCL to not trip over the man in front of him. At the very least TAA has as much right to that part of the pitch as DCL.

If Alisson doesn't spill the rebound it never gets called.

I don’t think Trent had any idea what he was doing. It’s a penalty for sure but does the red require some intent? Versus standing up in the guys path to the rebound?

Just saw the replay of Kavanaugh "checking" the penalty and I mean... doesn't really matter because Liverpool aren't scoring anyway, but at least pretend you watched the play

That's the Luiz issue from a few weeks ago. Red doesn't require intent, the only thing that protects you is if you are attempting to play the ball and foul the man and while TAA was clearly attempting to play the ball before the shot, he's just as clearly not attempting to play the ball when the foul occurs on the rebound.

How did a world class team turn into shit so quickly?
They're down to CBs 5 (6?) and 8 on the depth chart, and their effective midfield players are pushed into defense, injured, or have been run into the ground.

Add in a complete inflexibility in tactics and you've got a side that's easy to set up against and easier to play against, especially when playing with a lead

California. Duh.
I can't even get upset about this. Injuries happen, but how many teams have ever lost their top 3 center backs for the season, plus their 2 top central midfielders that were filling in?

I'm just glad this happened after a title winning season. If this would have happened after the 2019 near miss, I'd be beside myself.

Congrats to our Everton contingent who have had to take a lot of crap over the years.

VAR has taken the pressure off of the Ref to get the the call right. They are now thinking a VAR review after the fact is fine and the VAR gets the heat on a bad call.

I hate VAR. I can't celebrate a goal because I expect some random VAR revue of the buildup of the play from the other end of the field to deny it. The game is not played in slo-motion and the frame rate does not keep up with the speed of the game. You also have parallax problems depending on the location of the camera.

Does anyone know what offsides is anymore? I recently turned on a game in the middle of a VAR decision. The line ran through the forwards armpit, then his hand, then his finger. It did not compare the defenders position. The result was off sides and I turned the game off.

https://www.statista.com/statistics/1094007/influence-of-var-on-the-enjoyment-of-english-premier-league-football-matches/
"Two thirds of frequent viewers say that Premier League matches have become less enjoyable to watch since VAR was introduced, with only 12 percent of respondents indicating that VAR has made Premier League matches more enjoyable to watch. "

If that many viewers think your product is less enjoyable you are on the wrong path.

Agree with this. It's either not a foul at all, or it's a penalty + a red card. Of course the ref picked neither of those because reasons.

Fulham looking like it'll get a goal in the 2nd half. It'll make Shad Khan happy, and maybe send good vibes to the Jags. Maja is the Trevor Lawrence of the EPL.

Does Crystal Palace pretty much every season I’ve followed them count? :)

Villa are a lot harder to handle with Grealish. Was a good watch anyway could have gone either way. Leicester are impressive in how patient they have been bringing through a second wave.

I have no idea what Arsenal are trying to do with the ball when they get it. I’m fairly certain they don’t either.

Jon Moss has given advantage a half dozen times where there has been none for the team that got fouled, it's astounding
