I know 48 is basically automatic these days, but that was a big kick under the circumstances

Barkley should have caught that ball but that was just some horrendous defense by Philly to get shredded like that at nut-cutting time.

Eagles beat writer Reuben Frank puts it on Sirianni.

Platitudes about 'instilling a winning culture' aside, there are a lot of signs that something is wrong here.

https://www.nbcsportsphiladelphia.com/nfl/philadelphia-eagles/point-the-blame-for-latest-eagles-meltdown-straight-at-nick-sirianni/616070/

They lost to the Jets after leading with 46 seconds left. They lost to the Seahawks after leading with 28 seconds left. They lost to the Cards after leading with 32 seconds left. And now they’ve lost to the Falcons after leading with 38 seconds left.
But the Eagles are also 2-7 in their last nine games and every one has either been a 4th-quarter meltdown or a lop-sided embarrassment.

I never really liked Sirianni’s act but he didn’t make Saquon drop that pass. Also, Hurts threw away the Jets game.

Edit: btw, Hurts also blew the Falcons game at the end. They could have gotten in FG position there.

Yeah, that would be on Kellen Moore anyway. The call was fine.

Hurts has been making some really bad decisions on late drives where they have to score. The Jets and Seattle games were just mind-boggling.

For people smarter than me:

At the 2:00 warning in the 4th QTR, Eagles had a 2nd and 1, and the Falcons intentionally went offside/encroachment to get the Eagles the first down, and the Eagles denied it (both very smart plays). Eagles ended up converting the 2nd and 1, and took time off the clock / forced the Falcons to use a TO.

My question is, what if the Falcons continued to do that on 2nd and 1 (purposely encroach/offside/neutral zone infraction) -- even if it results in an unsportsmanlike penalty, it would still be a 1st down, correct? Why wouldn't the Falcons continue to do that then?

My big criticism of Siriani and Moore is that they repeatedly didn't run when they should. Early in the game... gashing the Falcons D on the ground, get to 3rd and 4.... roll out with no PA to throw the ball to a late round rookie doubled in the endzone... then go for it on 4th and again throw and fail.... that's bad playcalling and decisionmaking. You should know you're going for 4th if you miss there and call accordingly, either run it or run PA when you're killing them. Bunch of those, including at the end where they were running well and then abandoned it in the Red Zone. Did it week 2 as well.
