NFL really needs to do something about officiating, it consistently gets worse year over year.

Edit: the key is just consistency, refs are never gonna be able to pick up all penalties on every play but it seems totally random when something is a penalty and when something isn't.

Lesson: if you're away from the play on D, allow the O lineman past you so he'll be downfield. If necessary, push him there.

part of it is the rules themselves, they've made so many subrules and exceptions and technicalities that it is a mess. Overhauling and simplifying the rulebook would go a long way.
