Any game or sport is basically just a set of arbitrary rules designed to create interesting competition; for spectator sports, the rule set should also make it watchable. By that measure, pro football is really a bad sport at this point. Like, if none of us had any history watching it we would dismiss it as worse than trampoline basketball.

I have my problems with the NFL but I still love it. Only sport I regularly watch teams I do not give a shit about.

Butt fumble probably shouldn't have made the list, because while that play was hilarious, it didn't matter to the game, which was an utter thrashing. It's not a great play, it's a blooper reel.

Would be pretty funny if Gardner Minshew ends up being the long-term QB solution in Jacksonville. Foles is basically uncuttable until after the 2020 season; not sure if a trade could be structured in a way that avoided the $33 million dead money that would hit if the Jags cut Foles after this season.

Dan Jones is going to get a lot of chances to sling it while down big this season. Giants secondary is atrocious. Guys running free all over the field.

Vikings got totally jobbed on a TD review. They retroactively called OPI on a Viking received bumping into someone on the GB line.

The Giants continuing to run Eli out there and insist he is a starting QB is far more illogical and embarrassing than anything the Dolphins are doing.

They should have drafted Darnold or Allen a year ago, let him develop for a season, then said goodbye to Eli last off-season. But that ship has sailed, and even people who are bullish on Jones concede that he’s a project. I understand why the Giants are sticking with Eli for now.

Giants should make the change. They are short on receivers but his accuracy sucks and there’s just no life to the offense. He doesn’t throw in rhythm, he’s jumpy, and NY won’t let the status quo stand for long while the team is shit anyways. Only hesitation may be that the line is trash and you don’t want to kill the kid.

Jimmy looks much better today other than the bad INT. Encouraging coming back from the ACL and an up and down first game

Stopped at the goaline, going for 2 to try to take the lead.

If nothing else, this Jacksonville team is fun to watch.

Mariota with a stupid decision to spike it on 3rd and 2 with 20 seconds left. Of course they turn it over and lose the game on the next play.

Lamar Jackson and Dak Prescott are going to both be awesome this year if they stay healthy (and the guys around them do).
