I thought so too, until they said the college rule is you can't be within a yard---he was within that yard.  The color guy didn't even know the rule right away, kind of funny

Wow---I thought that DB had zero chance at the ball off the rebound....what a spectacular catch.

Baylor sophomore QB, Seth Russell, has 438 yards passing and 5td's.  AT HALFTIME.  Freshman WR, KD Cannon has 6 catches for 223 yards and 3 of the TD's.

Nike money has been huge---they have the best facilities, support infrastucture, marketing, and well...whatever else drives success in recruiting.

They are a little like watching those Jimmy Johnson Cowboy teams that were just faster then everyone else at the time....they don't have quite the grit those teams did, but the speed is just so striking.

The other thing is, they've had a lot of coaches for a long time. Belotti was there for 20+ years. Alioti was DC for 20+ years  (with a few NFL years thrown in) before he retired last season, and his replacement, Don Pellum, has been at Oregon for 22 years. Their RB coach has been there for 31 years!

Recruits want to know their position coach will be there their entire collegiate career, and Oregon has had minimal turnover and almost always promotes from within.

TD Hokies.   20-7 VT now at TOSU.  The Buckeyes were fairly lucky to win last week, but I don't think the magic will be there in this one.  But, if anyone can pull a win out of their ass, it's Ohio State.

Every fall these past few years, I've hoped the Big Ten will put a collective sock in this "Big Ten can't compete with the elite programs any more" meme. Today is not a step forward. Slight understatement. It's looking like maybe the Big Ten's worst day in a long time. When you're saying, "at least Iowa came back against Ball State," it's a sign that maybe there are no socks to be had this year.

Texas should join the B1G, they'd fit right in. Let's face facts, football in the north and midwest is dying. Can;t compete with the kids in the south and west coast. The B1G needs to expand and get a foothold in texas and the southeast somehow. Otherwise this trend that has been going on ten years now will keep getting more profound. football rules emphasize speed. the big lines and bruising running games will be tougher and tougher to win with.
It can be done, stanford and MSU have done it.

You look at NFL rosters, right down to where they went to high school, and the southeast is very heavily represented. Especially in the skill positions. California still holds its own. But old strongholds like Pennsylvania, Ohio and Michigan are considerably down. Take away the skill positions and the corners and it's fairly geographically balanced. So it's primarily that combination of speed and football that the Big Ten isn't doing well with these days.

Does Michigan kick a field goal here with 3 minutes to go down 31-0 to avoid the shutout?  In the history of ND/Michigan, they've never been shutout.  Wouldn't be surprised to see the FG to avoid ending the rivalry on that note.

No doubt in my mind that Ohio State pulls this out of their ass.  Nobody pulls out ugly wins as much as Urban Meyer, except maybe that guy, Les, down at LSU.

Nope.  On third and 9, they oddly ran up the middle.  And then took a sack on 4th down.

Its like they weren't even trying at the end of that.

They would, but they don't have a kicker, apparently. Those were two ugly misses in the first half.

Funny that, with 2:41 to go, they've actually outgained Notre Dame. No one would argue that they've outplayed Notre Dame, though. Not even close.

Michigan hasn't been shutout in any game since 1984, which has to be one of the longest streaks in the nation.

To be fair, the kicker slipped on the second miss.  And I think the first miss was tipped at the line.  But the first one should have been easy.

ND ends it with a pick 6.  Holy shit Gardner was terrible tonight.

Edit: Pick 6 comes back comes back after a roughing the passer call.  ND player lit up Gardner on the INT return.

Here's a little interesting stat.  LSU sophomore WR, Travin Dural made 7 catches last year as a freshman.  He got 145 yards, and 2 of them were for touchdowns.  He averaged 20.7 yards per catch.

Last week, he had 3 catches for 151 yards, including an 80 yard td.  An average of 50.3.

This week, he had 3 catches for 140 yards, including a 94 yard td.  Oh yeah, his other two catches were 28 and 18 yards and both went for touchdowns.

Small sample size and all, but his career has started with 13 catches for 436 yards, and 6tds.  I'd say he's a guy you may want to get the ball to going forward, and he's someone to keep an eye on as a fan. He's 6-2, 192 lbs.

Uggh.  I probably should have mentioned that as good as Ohio State is at pulling out ugly wins, Virginia Tech is pretty much the exact opposite.  Turning big wins into ugly losses.  Sorry Napkin, but you know it's true.

UNC is up just 4 points on San Diego State with 4:00 left in the 4th and SD St about to receive the ball. I don't know how many out there are like me and rooting for all upsets when there's no rooting interest, but it certainly should be a fun finish.

Bosa is just an absolute monster.   The kid might be the best defensive player n college football.   And little brother is supposed to be as good

It's a shame Daddy had no interest in having the kids follow his path to BC

(not that I blame him with the talent these kids have)

Wow, nice bounce back by VT.   I honestly thought they were dead and buried when OSU caught them.

Dernell, I'm with you.  As a PC grad, I really don't have a rooting interest in most college football games, but I watch every single one that I can and I basically root for every upset.  Right now, got my eye on that Memphis/UCLA game.  Surprised to see Memphis score 21 in the first half.  Not sure their defense can keep them close though.

Maryland should help them get into Virginia, which is good recruiting area, especially Hampton roads. Rutgers doesn't help them at all since anyone worth their salt in NJ was already going to a Penn St or another Big Ten school anyway.

I have no clue who he was throwing to.  Excellent job by VT defense.  The pressure they put on the o-line and quarterback in the 4th was impressive.

TD, BYU.  27-0.

Bring back Mack.

Obviously the only rational response to this game is for Strong to kick more guys off the team and rob them of their scholarships.

The B1G goes 8-5 this weekend with about 7 unimpressive wins. But you got those DC and NYC media markets going for you!

Damn it.  Air Force receiver had a chance to pitch it back for a perfect hook and lateral play, and for some reason, he didn't and got tackled ending the game.  Field was wide open for his teammate to score.
