Can't believe the Cowboys let Tony Romo come in for that final drive...

Matters not, but hat tip to the Cowboys.  Playing with no Romo and no Lee, and playing as well as they did - very impressive effort.  Eagles got super, super lucky.

Nick Foles has a Manning head.  In a few years when he starts losing his hair, it will be obvious.  And he'll get those red marks too.

The Eagles defense is ass, stop pretending they are good.  People were making fun of Kyle Orton all week and he threw for 380.
Jason Witten and Dez Bryant may be the top 1-2 WR/H-TE in the league, Orton had a lot to work with. And he was throwing strikes to them in stride.
That last interception was the exception.
You have to give the Cowboys pass offense credit this game, they were good.

The Eagles d has improved vastly in the season. They are a bend don't break d. Good? No. Bad hardly. Esp when you consider the extra pressure the Kelly system puts on them. They held 8 of last 10 sub 21 points. (the vikings being terrible example and the Cowboys today 22). They have a huge issue at safety and that's not ideal.

If that was Romo at qb I think we would say that ending was cliche.

Holy shit.

Kelly got lucky. The offense didn't play great and the Dallas team came out and played very well. The d played well and they won the fight in the trenches. Both trenches. Which is impressive and surprising.
Except on defense that last Eagles drive, where they basically ran Dallas out of their boots, alternating up the gut and sweeps outside.

Wow, Steelers got fucked.  Should have been a penalty on the Succup field goal that he missed at the end of the game.  Chargers had 7 men on LOS on one side of the ball, which is a penalty and the refs missed it.  Would have given him another chance from 36 yards instead of 41.

Does Jason Garrett keep his job?

Honestly, the fact that sweeping changes are likely coming to the coaching staff is the only reason I'm not going on a seven state killing spree right now.

Jerry doesn't want to fire him; he's given him multiple votes of confidence.  He will note how hard they played without Romo, without Lee, with about a 60% DeMarcus Ware.  Callahan might go, Monte Kiffin might go (if Jerry wants to play the 4-3/Tampa 2 that's fine but then hire Lovie Smith as DC if he doesn't get a HC job), but I cannot see him getting rid of JG.

A non-judgment call possibly impacted who made the playoffs.  It is a billion dollar industry.  Why can't the Steelers file a formal protest to have the kick retried?
Baseball seems to be the only sport which has something like this I think

I have read pieces suggesting he was on the hot seat tonight and others that had your take.  Frankly, Garrett may not want to be there anymore (not that I know of course).  Jones seems like a difficult owner to work for and the expectations around the Cowboys are ridiculously high.   I am not sure that their failings are his doing at all.

Because the can of worms would be ridiculous.

But why limit his play calling if you like him? Why settle for mediocre?
I blame jerry not Garrett. But he's clearly not a solution so.... Just drift on at 8-8?
I mean the Giants will improve, Kelly just won 10 games and broke all sorts of records in year 1 with low turnover from reids team. They weren't very good this year. In a weak division they didn't make the playoffs (again).
Romo now has a huge question mark and no plan b. Ware is aging and and Lee is clearly hard to rely on for all his talent.
This is not a team opening a window to compete.

The expectations should be high, though.  They are a talented football team.  This isn't like when they were 5-11...they have skill players all over the place, even on their terrible defense.

Believe me, I don't think Jason Garrett should retain his job.  I think he should have been fired after he botched the end of the Arizona game two years ago...this is just what I think Jerry will do.

I agree that it would be tough working for Jones, and I still have a bitter feel about that whole organization from that 90s run....but I will say he does seem to be pretty loyal to his coaches.  It is odd in that he seems to be so hands-on, yet also patient.  I'd prefer to work for him over Snyder.

EDIT: BigSoxFan's post may have shed more light on the "patience" part of my post.  Perhaps they are just "yes men".

I don't agree with this at all. For all the good Garrett brings to the Cowboys, he brings just as many negatives with him. His clock management is atrocious and a three year-old could hold a lead better than him. At best, Garrett's influence on the Cowboys is a wash.

There's just no escaping the fact that the blame has always, and will always, rest on Jerry's shoulders. His management of the roster and the organization are a joke to anyone with half a fucking brain. But for some reason, the "smartest" people in the room can't seem to grasp that.

Miles had Boykin beat for a huge gain on that play that ended the game - beat him on the slant and Orton was late and behind.  Might have even been the same play Romo threw pick #1 against Green Bay on the exact same throw.  Spooky.

I think it would have been at most a 15 yard gain. The safety was right there. Had Austin broken that imaginary tackle he'd have been gone, but it's not like there wasn't a player right there ready for the tackle.

Wait the receiver beat the corner when it was an interception? Or he jumped the route as he read it and had safety cover behind...
Keep that almost close to your heart to keep you warm through the playoffs.
