The only Cowboys fans sad are the idiots who thought they had some miracle shot at the playoffs still. Losing is best for business and if losing in a joke fashion like that gets Fat Mike and the worst coaching staff in football gone, even better.

I’m not sure I understand why the chaos of a blocked punt allows. The ball to be turned over with a touch by the other team. It seems like a weird rule.
Without it, how do you handle it, though? Dallas can handle it with impunity? They can’t return it/only can down it similar to the kicking team on an unblocked punt? Both of those seem a bit extreme in opposite directions.

I can’t think of a clearly superior alternative.

Don’t touch the bouncing special teams ball. Guys lose their minds in the moment.

It was tipped, not blocked. The ball went past the line of scrimmage. So it would be like any other punt in the history of punts that go past the line of scrimmage. When the kicking team touches it, the ball is "downed" there, but the receiving team can try to advance it with no concern.

If the ball had hit off a Bengal player, it would have been a "muff", and Dal would have recovered at the spot.

The Bengals were the kicking team. So if it had hit a Bengal downfield, it would be considered "downed" like any punt, and dead at the spot, Cowboys ball.. A muff is usually off the kick-receiving team when the receiver touches but doesn't control the ball.

Sorry- yep, I had it downside-up. But the point of it being a regular punt stands. The receiving team (CBoys) muffed it.
