I feel like the entire Palace side have spent entirely too much time perfecting their Manning Faces. Roy, Ayew, and Zaha in particular have spectacular stinkfaces.

It helped that Van Anholt didn’t close him down at all. Even though everyone watching knew exactly what Salah was going to do.

Mane is still pissed on the bench.

To be fair, there was about 20 minutes in the second half before the 2nd goal where Palace were the better team.

Perhaps this is just wishful thinking, but I feel like Mike Dean’s time in this league is almost up. It’s reached the point where players are constantly agitating for cards against the opposition, knowing Dean loves to brandish red. The histrionics in this SOU-MNC match so far are embarrassing, even for football.

Best City match I’ve watched in a while. City are so bearable now that Soton isn’t even bothering to play a back 6 like most teams. They’ve been into City and have probably been the better side

I haven’t watched the NFL in years, but toward the end it was becoming apparent that the idea of celebrity refs was really detrimental for the game. The EPL has a very similar problem going back to Howard Webb and Mark Clattenburg.

The current refereeing crop also has hilariously different standards. While you’ve always had to be aware of a ref’s style, more and more that style must be related to how it can be exploited against a given opponent. A match between hotheaded sides refereed by Mike Dean is going to have a drastically different result than, say, Stuart Attwell. That’s not good.

Raheem Sterling’s lack of a left foot and Rodri being a slow pale imitation of Fernandinho is basically with 20 points fewer for City

Somewhere right now, Ed Hochuli is smiling (and benching).

Did anyone else just see that Premier League on NBV Christmas album infomercial, or did I just have a fever dream.

Also, Mrs. Mags watched Arteta’s pre-match interview. Her commentary: “He looks like a robot!”

After interview ends: ”HE NEVER BLINKED! HE *IS* A ROBOT!”

After re-winding and watching interview for a second time: “Yeah, that’s a robot.”

Hm, adds some context to his "it's pure maths" comment.

Pepe held his nerve, decent penalty - back to 1-1.

I'm not sure what the game plan is with this Arsenal team. Makes it an odd watch.

Very pleased with Everton that half. My binky Tom Davies stupidly fouled for the penalty but had been holding down the fort in the middle of the park. With no Digne and Coleman the way forward isn’t as easy for this lineup but they’re compact and don’t allow much for the opponent.
