Very pleased with Everton that half. My binky Tom Davies stupidly fouled for the penalty but had been holding down the fort in the middle of the park. With no Digne and Coleman the way forward isn’t as easy for this lineup but they’re compact and don’t allow much for the opponent.
A Mina/Keane CB combo is also ideal for defending against Arsenal's crossing strategy.

Arsenal can still get something from this match. Not saying they will or they should, but Everton will kick themselves if they don't get all three points here. At 2-1 there is always hope.

Maybe Arteta should have done a year at Tranmere, much like Lamps at Derby.

Rob Holding doesn't strike me as Arsenal Captain material, even on a temp/one off basis. It's an indication of something - giving him the armband. Beyond my purview though.

Least satisfying third win in a row I can imagine. Everton were by far the better side in the first half snd let Arsenal back into it. Passive the whole second half.

But it’s a sign of Everton’s steady (if very uneven) development that we just beat Arsenal for 9/9 points off Chelsea Leicester and Arsenal to move into second in the table snd I’m disgruntled with the poor second half.

The Gunners are a wounded animal...and they're shite. I felt Everton ought to have put Arsenal to the sword and sliced them open. Everton kinda kept Arsenal in the game. Still, three points is three points and you move on.

I dunno how long Arteta can hold on.

And, as so often happens, the ten-man side scores.

Let's see if SHU can hold on for dear life and get the win.

Watching Mourino’s teams (or a guy like Simeone) makes me wonder if I actually like this sport. This style just sucks the joy out of the universe.

What did Aurier think he was doing?

Edit: the man is receiving the ball at the corner of the box with back to goal. As the FB, close on that hard to prevent the attacker from turning, make sure the ball stays out wide. That’a the job right there. Why the hell are you dropping a shoulder into his back?

For the good of the match as spectacle Leicester scoring first was required. Vardy pads the stats with a fine pen.

Quality corner flagging from Leicester. Followed by some nice pressing in Spurs half. Good game management. Love to see it.

In his post match interview I want Jose to stick his chest out and say that Spurs dominated the match.

Pretty dreadful game from Spurs. Son was invisible, while Kane was subpar. I thought the announcers (well my announcers) made an excellent point in saying Jose can only get away with this awful, soul sapping style because the stadium is empty.

Arteta said that they dominated the second half yesterday, or words to that effect. He's not entirely wrong - Spurs had something like 80% possession between 45' and 55' - but they did little with it, other than the obligatory once-a-match Pickford no-man's-land fumble that Sideshow Bob knocked off the crossbar - but it's just not a good look, is it. If you dominate, put it in the fucking onion bag.

The past 5 minutes have been the most sjambok I’ve defending and most exciting goalkeeping I’ve ever seen.

There have been 2-3 historically bad misses by Leeds, none worse than that one by Harrison

Definitely made contact and I'm fine with the red, but I don't think it was as bad as it could have been. I'd call it studs raking Grealish's calf, not driving in.
