I'm sorry, we see it all the time. When Wilson runs for that first down, you get everyone to the line and you spike the ball and stop the clock. Instead, he fires a three yard pass over the middle, and then another 4 yarder out to the hash mark. Clock runs the entire time. Spike the fucking ball, stop the clock. You lose a down, but in that situation, you still have three downs to get another first or get into field goal range, and if you can't do it in three downs, you're probably running out of time anyway. Teams are constantly wasting 10-15 seconds getting guys set up, calling a play and running a play instead of spiking it.

The real problem there was the two check downs that bled the clock after the Wilson first down. They gained like 7 yards and burned at least 30 seconds and may not have even gotten a FG attempt off if not for the Atlanta injury.
