I like how people ignore just how bad Rodgers and their offensive line were just because they won by 7 points. they all looked terrible

This game was a nice reminder that the Packers hired one of, if not the, worst offensive coordinator in the league last year to be their head coach and play caller. LaFleur is a terrible playcaller, who is riding off his association with McVay. Except what he actually does is the opposite of McVay. He runs big 2 TE sets, runs on 2nd and long all the time, and generally reduces space instead of looking to create it.

He'll be in college by 2021.

Can’t believe Aaron Rodgers actually won a road game against a decent opponent.

I don't think the two games were all that comparable, but YMMV
I generally agree, but Goff did a perfect Tibursky impression for four quarters. They differ in that both teams in the Super Bowl played a defensive game at a very high level. Last night featured a lot of mistakes from both offenses.

The Rams and Pats both had great offenses last year, and Phillips / Flores did an awesome job game planning and the defensive players executed and generally shut down the offenses.

The Bears and Packers do not have good offenses, so mediocre defenses can shut them down. It's apples and hand grenades.

The problem with last night's game was that the Bears were incapable of putting up points. When Green Bay had the ball, the game was fine because Chicago's defense was fantastic and really forced Rodgers into a lot of difficult situations, particularly with their pass rush. That was good, quality football with a good offense getting stonewalled by an even better defense.

The problem was that Green Bay's defense wasn't an amazing machine; they were solid but it was really Chicago, with it's awful playcalling, poor decision making and inaccurate quarterback play that held them to three points. That was bad, boring football.

Let's hold off on the "decent opponent" part. Chicago is a potential team that got lucky on a lot of levels last year.

EDIT: Defense is good, but it takes more than that.

I mean, they have an elite defense. They will be decent. Trubisky will determine if they are better than that.

And stop getting in the way of my one-liner mocking of Rodgers!
Actually, I'm helping! He barely beat a potentially not decent team!!

Trubisky took three preseason snaps, all hand offs. Not sure what the plan was there, but it seems to have cost them at least one game so far. Really unimpressed with Nagy.

Not to mention the 20 penalties for 170 yards. The viewers might cry loudly for some specific flags in the moment, but I think it's going to really hurt the fan experience if games play out like this. Hopefully, it was just two sloppy teams in the first week, and not an indication of how the games will be called all year...

There were 3 pass interference calls yesterday with 1 challenge. Let's see how well this works...

Good call by WFXT to choose Rams/Panthers over Skins/Eagles. And sort of surprising, esp given NFC East Uber Allies.

For those who can't see the map, here's the full schedule (as far as I can tell) for Week 1 in the Boston/Massachusetts/for some reason not Hartford region:

1:00pm
- Bills @ Jets (CBS) (bleh)
- Rams @ Panthers (FOX)

4:25pm
- Giants @ Cowboys (FOX)

8:25pm
- Steelers @ America's Worst Nightmare (NBC)

Monday:

7:10pm

- Texans @ Saints (ESPN)

10:20pm
- Broncos @ Raiders (ESPN)

As others have said, getting Rams/Panthers instead of Rwords/Eagles is a mercy. And as for missing out on KC@JAX and ATL@MIN, well, that's what Reddit's NFL Streams are for, yeah?

How the hell does the rest of NE get that? Help us out in the Hartford market!
You guys are screwed. The Giants are your local NFC team, so Fox feeds you all the NFC East divisional games, just as CBS feeds us all the AFC East ones (we’re getting Jets-Bills today instead of a more interesting game like Chiefs-Jaguars or Titans-Browns). I’m glad the Fox locals have finally realized that there’s nothing left of the historic Giants’ fan base here and giving us the best game available.

Ok Jets fans, I’m a bit worried about this season and game because of this oline and lack of corners.

We might be ok because as far as I know, Josh Allen can’t throw so that should help our corners and we should be very strong up the middle.

Williams like to blitz but the corners need to cover a bit for this to not get killed. We shall see.

The big problem for today is the Bills D should be good and we cannot let Sammy boy get hit. I’m optimistic that Gase knows this but if he fucks this basic thing up I’m going to have a lot of problems with Crazy Eyes.

I’m already pissed off. Second offensive play for Jets (2&5), idiots go 5 wide and get the QB hit. I can’t handle stupidity.
