It's a new show, so a new thread, and let's call it what it is.  Only a couple days in and Ordway has taken control of what used to be a listenable but dull show and thrust himself into being the mouthpiece of the program, making it into an unlistenable BUT EXCITING AND LOUD show.

I feared this would happen.  I HOPED he would fit in with Merloni and Fauria but have more knowledge than Benz had, but we all know that's not his style.

I'll give it a couple more listens and then find something else.

Same arrogant "holding court" and "ask me a question and I'll tell you the unassailable answer" that Mike Francesca employs.

I've really enjoyed MFB during the last few months that I've listened during DFG. I was also worried when they announced the return. I don't think Ordway has been too bad yet, and was hoping he wouldn't be as schticky and obnoxious this time around. Time will tell I guess. I really like Lou and Fauria though -- they do a good job.

A Scud Away from Hell
Oof.

I hope this is just Ordway's "I'M SO EXCITED TO BE BACK THAT I NEED TO MAKE UP FOR LOST TIME" phase, but I have my doubts.

What has become an entertaining, if not thought-provoking (whut?) show has become Ordway-and-who-were-these-guys-again? Fauria is still just doing his thing but I just don't hear the chemistry.

Oy-vey.

I don't mind the Big O, but he's got to let other people talk. When there's baseball news, I really want to hear what Lou thinks about it. I'm not much of a football guy, but on football, I want to listen to Fauria. I don't really care about Ordway's view, I hope he doesn't try to take over the show.

Edit: pretty much what SSF says above. I only listened for 10 mins, Ordway was like 75% of it.

I would be curious as to what Lou and Christians contract status is. I could see them playing out the string, then going back to the old Big Show format.

The show's new name puts Ordway first, so he ran with it?

Yep. It's supposed to be Big O, Lou and Fauria.

I think Big O is taking it as the Big O show, featuring Lou and Fauria.

They should just go ahead and add Mike Giardi so they call call the thing OMFG.  That was my response to what 5 minutes in the car sounded like.

By all accounts, Lou is up in January.  Not sure about Fauria.

Judging from Ordway and post-game show, maybe he can muscle Fred Smerlas back as the football/meatball expert.
is Ordway doing the postgame show all season? heard him on yesterday in the car - I was surprised to hear it.

I did too and then switched to 98.5 only to hear Steve Deossie on their postgame show. Better than Gresh, but not by much.

This show is dreadful. When you resort to prank calling radio shows in other cities and having fake callers come on and do a 'bit' you've lost me. Ordway steps all over the show. Fauria is awful, he's a cross between Bobby Valentine's voice and Fred Smerlas' brain. Merloni is passable but isn't entertaining radio. I tried it, but I'm back to Zo and Beetle.

Boy, Ordway has not changed his schtick one iota. A story comes out that makes the Pats looks bad , he sits on the fence initially, and a day later he's circling the wagons, spewing some crap about Alex Guerrero being a "naive kid" who got "taken in" by a slick infomercial producer.  I'm guessing Glenn had a nice long phone conversation with Jonathan this morning to get his talking points in order.

You think Jonathan Kraft cares enough about what Glenn Ordway says to have a long conversation with him about it? Really?

If theres worse radio than listening to Ordway debate Boston media vs Indy media toughness, I have never heard it.

Wish him a speedy recovery.

Haven't listened much lately. I consider Ordway a slight upgrade over Benz but that's not saying much at all. Ordway was at his best when he could step back and facilitate discussion among strong co-hosts. I think he likes to hear himself talk too much for that though.

And Fauria is useless. Even talking football I usually turn it off after a few minutes at most.

So, Ordway's collapse was really due to cancer, and he's been out due to an operation to remove. Didn't hear it directly, but Dale Arnold says surgery was successful, and he's back. Did anyone catch what sort? Best wishes for him, as he's spearheaded the Jimmy Fund drive for WEEI.

I do listen to this now and then, with gritted teeth. But 3 seconds in to listening today and I heard SMERLAS and I was out of there like a shot. Holy hell is he dreadful. I had almost forgotten how awful he is

THEY BROUGHT BACK THE WHINER LINE!

I was listening at lunch and they said it was coming back and IT WAS WORSE THAN IT USED TO BE!! I know, impossible, right? But yet it was. Zero funny. Zero timely. Zero reason.

Ordway is 65 now. One would hope to god he retires soon, so we don't have to listen to that garbage anymore.

They fired him once already and he clawed his way back. Can't imagine he's retiring on his own anytime soon.

I think there are two ways to look at the return of the Whiner line. Either it means they're happy with what Ordway has brought to the midday and are letting him bring back some of his old bits as something of a reward (because his "fans" demand it) or it means Ordway has had little to no impact on the ratings and they're bringing back the Whiner line as a desperation attempt to recapture his glory days and the OMF show isn't long for this world. I don't listen nearly enough to know which is more accurate.

apparently the show is up in Loudon, NH today...when was the last time the midmorning (or any WEEI) show traveled and did a show on a non-SB/World Series/Finals event?

When the Yanks got good again and you didn't hear any calls from him; figured he was gone already or close to it.

Ordway going on a rant about bloggers and podcasters who "live in their mom's basement" and think they know more about the Celtics and Al Horford than him and Lou. He is basically challenging them to come on the air and have a sports debate about the Celtics.

Wasn’t he doing the exact same thing from his attic like a year ago?
