D and C have edited their report again to say he came from Kevin Faulk's house.

Care to offer a theory as to how Belichick's eye is related to Jones' medical issue is related to Gronk not practicing today?
Jones gets fucked up and Bill is pissed because Gronk enabled it. Bill confronts Gronk. Argument ensues. Something gets thrown, somebody gets shoved, Bill winds up with black eye. Bill gives Gronk the day to cool off.

Gronk is just not getting suspended over this if the injury was accidental. He is just not, for if he is, everything gets worse and the Pats have no chance Sunday.

Teams have survived worse. Reggie Jackson and Billy Martin had fist fights. Once they fought in the goddamn dugout during a game. In Fenway Park. Yanks won WS that year.

Well you guys can be homers about this whole mess but I know where most objective NFL fans including me will come down.

Given that Belichick's badly battered face just happens to coincide with one of his top defensive players going on a drug addled rampage around Foxboro, its more probable than not that the two are related.
Badly battered face? Seriously?

Seems odd that Deadspin, with it's love for anything anti-Patriots, has not covered this story considering the supposed massive media shitshow that is taking place. Maybe some perspective is in order here.
Nothing on TMZ Sports which normally loves this shit. The St Louis moving story seems to be drowning this out on the national stage.

I will also add that its more probable than not that Gronk had a hand in this mess too. I am guessing both he and Jones will be cut during the offseason. Brady and BB may decide that they have had enough too. The circus has to end sometime...

I still don't know if you are joking or actually serious.

If Gronk's weekend trip to Fla. was against team rules, then I am happy to have him ordered to miss practice today rather than not play on Saturday.

Dude was at the hospital for 20 minutes, and practiced the next 2 days. He didn't OD.
Well, let's see what Goodell has to say about it. I would guess that Jones gets a minimum of six games next season and Belichick might be suspended too if he doesn't cooperate this time around. Gronk will probably get two games too.

Yes, but Billy Martin fought everybody. Billy Martin fought against teams he faced, and even against fans of teams he faced.

Goodell punishing a player for turning himself in while intoxicated would be the most tone deaf thing he could possibly do.

Just fucking win three straight and all of this will be forgotten (he said remembering that last years shit is still going on)
Win one and it goes away, and may never gain traction to begin with. Just make sure everyone is squared away. Good organizations keep this crap in house.

The League will be hunting for him when the rec drug tests during a defined period start in offseason. It can't do squat before then.

I'm pretty sure everyone else is joking, and this post is serious. Please correct me if that's not right.

MAYBE I could buy this, possibly, in some universe. Except for the fact that Bill was all but laughing about it in his press conference today. When Reiss asked him about putting himself on the injury report it took a full four seconds for him to fight the smile off.

I'm guessing Belichick slipped at home and did a faceplant into a railing, or at a closed practice he wasn't looking and Jimmy G hit him with an errant pass. Whatever it was, it was some kind of accident in non-aggressive circumstances, I'd wager.

Yeah you read the same thing wrong that I did. Ed Hillel will be here momentarily to tell you
You're sensitive tonight. You misread something, I pointed out that you may have misread it, trying to be helpful, really, and you got all cranky about it. I was not piling on, btw, he posted as I was writing. As it was a key point to your argument, it seemed worth pointing out. I wasn't being adversarial. We all misread things.

No. He was at police station 20 minutes.

Arrived at station at 7:40, transported to hospital at 8 am.

There is no discharge time from hospital anywhere.

Unless there's a sinister angle to this story that's yet to be reported, I really don't see this blowing up into a major controversy beyond the local level.

The NFL to LA news is going to dominate virtually all the national sports headlines for the next 24-48 hours. And at the end of the day, as long as no one ended up hurt or dead, a 25 year old pro athlete flying off the handle after mixing a couple vics with some bad weed isn't much of a scandal.

Belichick coached LT for 10 years. Jones' alleged incident is child's play compared to LT's exploits.

You posted after I already had erased the post and acknowledged the error

I lack the context of the press conference. I hope you are right, obviously.

I still think he ran into a wall.
All such suggestions are more probable than getting a shiner due to player aggression.

Based on the dispatch, I'd say LSD or psilocybin; MDA/MDMA is another possibility, and I guess alcohol is always a possible factor. He wouldn't be cogent on painkillers. I guess it could be excessive amounts of a stimulant like amphetamine, but he'd have a nasty hangover, and likely wouldn't be able to practice the next day. Neither opiates nor stimulants would really explain why he's shoeless. With a hallucinogen, you provide some chlorpromazine or just wait for the effects to wear off and he's good to go.

At least one thing is in our favor... Tell Chandler if he plays really, really well Sunday, he likely gets to spend next week in Denver.

Okay, what would you like them to say or do, GCPT?
They need to be honest, frankly. Full transparency is not their style I realize. But there is no real way to spin this or just hope it goes away. It won't. Just tell the truth good or bad, take their medicine and move on. Otherwise this will become a massive distraction. Exactly everything BB dedicates his life to avoiding.
