There's literally no smoke. There's a story in the Herald, and a bunch of people goofing around
I should've said a lot of coincidences- why does BB have a black eye? Where was Gronk? What happened with Jones? I don't think they add up to anything and we've seen how distracted the team was with deflate gate. It's just weird..

From Reiss's recap of the Herald story: The Boston Herald reported that Jones showed up at the police department with a "medical emergency" at 7:42 a.m. Sunday, before being transported to Norwood Hospital shortly after 8 a.m.

I don't know a thing about drug overdoses, but I suspect hospitals don't release such patients after 20 minutes
Where does it say he was released after 20 minutes?

Here
E5, that says he showed up at the police station at 7:42 and was transported to the hospital within 20 minutes. We don't know how long he was in the hospital.

The Gronk missing practice thing is odd, but he clearly wasn't at the house and Jones has been at practice the past two days. Why would they punish Gronk and not Jones? It doesn't add up.

OK, now he's edited the tweet to not include the mention of Gronk's house.

I already removed the post ... but thanks for the pile on

Point being, we're in for another shitstorm, whether or not the report is true. This is all we're going to hear about until the Pats are out of the postseason.

I have a feeling that, in a few months, we're going to be talking about the DandCShow tweet the same way we talk about the Mort "11 of 12" tweet.

Why do I get the feeling this "OD'd on pills" will turn out to be a bad stomach reaction to too much Ibuprofen. And the idea that Belichick having a shiner, and Gronk being held out of a full pad practice prior their first playoff game, are related in some sinister way, while making for fun internet conspiracy talk, is probably a stretch.

Florio's story has been taken down..

Edit: or it was edited, then reposted.
And amended.

"UPDATE 8:37 p.m. ET: The report from WEEI initially claimed that the overdose happened at teammate Rob Gronkowski’s house. That tweet has been deleted, replaced by a new one that reiterates the overdose report, but that does not say where it occurred."

Hearing from a source that Jones showed up completely naked at a Walgreens on Sunday at 7:30 am. Unfortunately it would fit the timeframe here... Hope it's not true.

D&C start this shit storm with a bogus, likely false tweet after spending the better part of year shitting on Mort/ESPN for the 11 of 12 tweet.

I'd be laughing if it didn't suck for the Pats.

If this is true, it fits. The Foxboro PD is literally right next to the Walgreens (google maps).

And he's been there before (from August):

This is all just a plant by BB to make Jones' extension cheaper. Three steps ahead as always.

Honestly, when I first heard news of a pill "overdose" that he was able to come back from that same day, I thought: Viagra.

Maybe it had been more than four hours?

Would it really surprise anyone if Jones has substance abuse issues like his brother?

Unless this was PED or repeat-offense related he's fine for the next three games, yes?

I mean, if Sheldon Richardson is fine getting high, doubling the speed limit and evading police with a loaded gun and child in the car, something with no arrest/charges involved should be small potatoes.

Come on now everyone, if there was really an issue he would have been suspended by the team. I'm sure he had to show his medical reports to the team. They aren't going to find out he was in the hospital and let him practice the very next day without knowing exactly what happened to him. BB has never treated his stars with any sort of special treatment, if Jones had O'd on an illegal substance he wouldn't even be allowed in the facility right now, let alone practice

The Coney Island of my mind
This would be the first time in recorded history that an NFL player who took too much of something incriminating said to himself, "I know, I'll go to the police station to have this taken care of."

If medications were involved, the list of stuff that (a) the police have no interest in, and (b) which were out of his system quickly enough to go to work the next day must be pretty limited.

Blind guess: Panic attack.

Ahhh crap. That's more or less what I heard too and deleted it hoping I was just hearing rumors.

Strangely, that would be comforting to me. The most likely explanation would be hallucinogens, which have no long term effects.
Unless it triggers a latent psychotic disorder, of course.

Anybody know what a "Class D Delta" is?

  • While firefighters tended to Jones, an officer was sent to his home, which is just blocks away, according to the Herald. An officer can be heard telling a dispatcher, “I got his keys off the table, I was able to lock the front door. If you want to just pass along to the fire, he was definitely involved with class D delta before this happened, just so they know.”
  • Check out the 6:30 mark in the audio recording:

Ok, so, unless and until the league "randomly" tests him [tomorrow], there's really nothing to this.
