Yeah, I'd have to think some more about those other guys, but hard pass on Mcd.

Sure, BB would be awesome, but as much as I admire him, even if he was available, no way would I want to spend 3 first round picks on BB at the end of his career when he may not be coaching much longer.

Mayock is handling this PC today very well. On the other hand Mark Davis... basically ducked all questions, referred people to the NFL, and said it's a 51/49 control split between Mayock and the new coach.

Makes me think Mayock is either out, or back to not having much control soon.

Davis has come off horribly in this, just a scared, petulant child. Which I guess is unsurprising considering his background and personality.

If you care about the Raiders, I recommend watching the press conferences from yesterday. If you are wondering how the players are processing this, the three team Captain interviews are a pretty good watch.

mayock - speaking where Mark fucking Davis should be:

Coach Bisaccia (every Italian American will love the pronunciation correction he does in the middle and think of their grandfather), Carr, Waller & Crosby:

Mayock really shouldering the load here, really impressive leadership. What the hell is Davis doing? Is he just so pissed off that he can’t trust himself to handle this?

My personal theory is that he is very pissed the NFL sent him back to the kiddie table on this one and he doesn't trust himself not to get in big trouble with the league if he has to do a press conference.

My bet is that a most friendly big name national journalist, local beat writer Vinny Bongsignore, or ESPN beat writer Paul Gutierrez get a one on one with Mark Davis sometime in the next few weeks.

Now that win was sweet relief.

Derek Carr played his ass off. The young receivers made big catches. They ran the ball well. Kenyon Drake had a big game.

Most importantly, the defense really stuffed the Broncos offense in a trash can. Max Crosby had somewhere between 3 and 5 sacks, depending on how they count all of the half sacks etc. The defense forced a fumble and had three interceptions and really kept the Broncos offense off balance.

This is an above average team. They should compete for one of the wild card spots even with the Gruden gone distractions.

Good for you guys, neither the Raiders fans nor players (nor Mayock) deserved the Gruden fiasco, and that performance had to feel good to see.

Above average sounds right. Quite competent when Carr gets some protection, which doesn't always happen. Of course lots of teams have that problem.

The defense is average and that is good.

That just sucks. When you’re a rich young athlete there’s really only a few ways to fuck up your life. This is one of them.

Wild spot for Mayock. Do you trade for a WR in the next 15 mins?

balancing the two sides of my brain... yes.

I would offer mid round picks for either Cooks or Aiyuk. I would also offer Arnette for Aiyuk.

But, mostly, I am sad for a family that lost someone over stupidity and really sad that Ruggs fucked up like this and now has to be held accountable. I really liked him as a player and he seemed like a great kid from all we have seen. This sucks all around.

Edit: Hey Pats fans, you want out of the Agholor deal?

Agree, it’s about the family first and foremost. But Mayock has a responsibility to the other 52 players and the fan base to win. Super tough spot.

If Vegas can win this week then the week 18 may be a play-in game but Raiders have a chance to be the 5th seed if Patriots lose one. They'll hold the tiebreaker over Indy, the Pats and Baltimore.

In a win and in game, are the Raiders better served bubbling Carr than having him practice? The wrong person breathes on him and he’s out.

Hell of a game against the Chargers, who really are a more talented team. The defense did just enough. The offense did just enough. Lucky breaks? Just enough.

Chargers had some too.

Fun game to watch.

Congrats, any reasonable football observer - and frankly maybe even the unreasonable ones - has to respect what the Raiders have done after the Gruden and Ruggs debacles.

At CIN is no joke, but being in the tournament is an accomplishment.

I just got back home in Washington. That was fucking amazing last night.

That feeling that lasted about 45 seconds (post the Jacobs 1st down after Staley's timeout) of "we're going to the playoffs either way!" was one of the weirdest things I have ever experienced at a football game. It was truly surreal.

Either way, 10 wins, a 5 seed and ending the Chargers season is a pretty great accomplishment before you even factor in all that the team had to overcome.

Absolutely. We were probably a 12-13 win team without the issues; so it’s nice we at least got in and the season was salvaged. Lot of strong team leaders made that happen.

Can absolutely win in Cincinnati, too. LFG.

And they're done.

I didn't expect an upset, but given that they kept it close enough, I'm really frustrated by all the mistakes.

I'm angry about the obvious things, especially the clownshoes o-line. But there was something gnawing at me pretty much all game, and maybe my perception is wrong, but it sure seemed like it was taking forever to get plays in to Carr.

Carr isn't elite or anything, but something he has always been decent at, even going back to his days at Fresno State, is assessing the defense and making adjustments at the line. The more time he has to do that, the better.

Especially with a shaky o-line.

A solid play with an extra 10 seconds is better than a perfect play and rushing up to the line. I know the crowd noise contributed a lot, and again, maybe I'm wrong, but it just didn't look right.

I'm not angry, I'm sad. I really, really appreciated and liked this group of dudes. They fought their asses off and I really liked them. I don't know quite what the right path forward is in a division with Herbert & Mahomes for the next decade.

To EE's point, Gruden put the analytics staff in a box and had a very light offensive staff because he did all of the work himself. It showed today, when Greg Olson was slow all day with getting the plays in.

If they keep this staff they have to rebuild the offensive staff post Gruden. There should have been someone in Rich's ear telling him what the numbers said about spiking with 25+ seconds left, but those guys haven't had a voice on Sunday since 2017.

Think they have to add around the edges and pick a coach that gets you the most out of Carr. They aren’t getting a QB drafting around 20.

They need a #1 WR, a RT+a guard and a stud MLB. And decide if to punt on Abram. Jacobs might have earned his.

Apparently Davis is talking to coaches too, though Bisaccia might still be in the mix. Wonder how quickly he can find a new GM and if the new guy will have input on the coach, or if Davis is going to just work through it all at the same time.

I really don't expect Bisaccia back, and I'm assuming a new coach might not want him around in a different role and looking over his shoulder. I don't know if he's the right head coach for the Raiders, but it's a shame if his tenure with the team ends completely.

Clearing the deck to make Harbaugh head coach and GM? I know that model of the HC having all the football operations authority is increasingly out of fashion, but he’s probably the one guy on the market who could command that. He would then hire his own version of a Scot Pioli to run the day to day of the front office.

I would really enjoy Harbaugh in Vegas and then I could also stop rooting for Michigan in most of their games. I would rather he go NFC but Raiders is a cool match.

Harbaugh with Ed Dodds as GM most likely IMO.
Nothing in this world should surprise me and I’ll admit that I’m looking at this through Maize and Blue goggles, but bringing on a high-level position coach/recruiting coordinator from another top program is a strange move if you are on the verge of jumping to the NFL.

That said, if he’s going to leave, this is the year (for many reasons) and Vegas is the place.

Here’s hoping that Bisaccia gets a new contract and a big raise in the next few days.

To stay on as Special teams coordinator / assistant head coach for Harbaugh. I am sure for enough dollars he will do it.

I really loved this 2021 team, and admire the job that Bisaccia did, but I am glad that Mark Davis recognizes how big the challenge in front of them is and that they need to have a Coach that can actually complete with Andy Reid to get where they want to be.

Forecasting, I bet this winds up looking similar to the coaching search Davis just did for his other team, the Las Vegas Aces. He essentially told Bill Laimbeer that he could stay on unless Davis could lure Becky Hammond to Vegas. When he landed Hammond's signature on the contract, he kicked Laimbeer upstairs into a management role.

Also, let's hope Davis can land his big fish without making a complete mockery of the Rooney rule this time.
