VPN services with Static IP

I'm no expert in this sort of thing, I've seen VPN services posted before, but the lack of sleep from my 18 month old daughter has made me resort to asking--so I apologize if I have missed this elsewhere.

I have a virtual assistant who manages some of my websites, and I need a VPN service that has a static IP address so he can login to a 'main hub' that links to all my other sites so he can run updates on wordpress/themes/plugins.

Any recommendations? He travels a lot, and the reason this site is so secure (the main hub) is due to all the damage one could cause if a hacker got involved. The .htaccess file is modified to block lots of countries to reduce hacking attempts.

Any thoughts?

thanks,

matt

edit: Just had the thought, I can buy a proxy for him, and whitelist that. Much cheaper.

Well part of it falls into how you've designed the infrastructure. SoSH, for example, is run on a set of virtual servers where I setup demilitarized utility machines. Even if you're able to get into them you're still needing to start from square one in terms of gaining access to the actual physical boxes.

We've had this debate before. The best security is not needing security IMHO. No depending on same-server firewalls/.htaccess (although we do use them for safe measure)

For our Wordpress sites we ended up using a premium service that does all of the updates for us. In addition to being more secure, it's more secure because we don't have the tech single point of failure of remembering to update / checking automated updates. Completely worth the $60 or so a month, it's so worth it in time saving alone not taking into consideration the security considerations.
