Revis and his contract?JimD said:So ... if they weren't pushing him to restructure, why would he want out?
So why is he asking for his release now? I understand if the Pats were pushing hard for the restructure and he felt he'd be cut sooner or later so the sooner the better before the well is dry. But if they haven't had any recent talks the timing, at least, seems odd.soxhop411 said:MT @RapSheet No recent talks between Vince Wilfork & the #Pats about his contract. Approached him once about a restructure, a non-starter.

Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter 10m
Vince Wilfork asked Patriots for his release, per @RapSheet. Wilfork made it clear to Patriots in recent weeks he will not restructure deal.
My guess is the recent talk in the press was the Pats wanted to see him in OTA to determine his value. Maybe he didn't want to be in that position of getting a June ultimatum from the Pats of restructure or we'll release you. This way he has more time and more teams to to negotiate with.JimD said:So ... if they weren't pushing him to restructure, why would he want out?
Hoping for Jason Hatcher.DaughtersofDougMirabelli said:Well that's 8 million that can go towards a pass rusher and/or DT.
Melton, Raji?

Could probably be had for the vet minimum

EDIT: Tommy Kelly probably safe now, and DT clearly #1 team need IMO

For a business savvy guy / family, I can't believe he is asking for his release. An extension / restructure would net him much more money.
What he said, exactly. Go after a pass rusher and draft a DT. Sorry, Vince. Hope this wasn't a power play 'cause it's just what the doctor ordered.Jungleland said:Hypothetically I'd be thrilled if they pick up Allen or Peppers, retain Kelly, and draft a D tackle in the first round. Sad to see Vince go but it makes sense.

Are we dead certain the Pats offered an extension and not just a pay cut?tims4wins said:Does anyone here think that any team will sign him for more than a 1 year, make-good type of contract for $5M or so?
