Zardes 2-0.

nice ball from Morris, great finish, but I’d feel happier if I thought they could do it again against better opposition

Well, now it sounds like you want to join the broadcast team. ;)

They can only play who’s in front of them. They need a win here and then we’ll see.

The USMNT needed a big win, so I guess there was nothing better than facing Canada in a game in which the Canadians could really make a statement and advance in a tournament — a guaranteed meltdown.

This seems a weird penalty...

but the spot for the indirect seems ridiculously high

edit - moreso I dislike the rule, the ball is deliberately headed back all the time, so kinda whatever if he chips it to himself and heads it back. Deliberate is deliberate. I get it isn't the word of law

Placement was correct. LOTG p. 113, first bullet under "2. Procedure": "indirect free kicks to the attacking team for an offence inside the opponents’ goal area are taken from the nearest point on the goal area line which runs parallel to the goal line"

Or rather, it was correct for it to come out to the goal area line. I'm not sure it was at quite the right spot on the line.

Call is 100% right. Placement weird.
Ya, I edited, moreso I just kinda dislike the rule I guess. Deliberate header is deliberate header. IF ya don't chip it to yourself it's okay but otherwise no go? I dunno. I realize silly squabble.

Is there a rule that an indirect kick that would be inside the 6 has to come out? It happens so rarely that I don’t know.

Ya, soon as yall asked, recalled the indirects come out to the 6. So spot made complete sense.
But ya indirects in the 6 happen so rarely.

Still haven’t seen him against top top opposition, but Yueill has shot to the top of my “well fine, if you *must* play a softish MLS 6” list.

You can't do it through a "trick play" to circumvent the rule.

That should have been a red on Hoilett, and the USMNT should have gotten in his face.
