This is so CONCACAF. If this ref were from UEFA it would be 10 v 9 in Mexico's favor already

The 718
At risk of engaging in BS "intangibles" talk, it does feel like this team has more fire and has each others' backs more than USMNT squads of recent vintage.
After what the world saw earlier today they need to show that they deserve to wear the shirt.

What does Arriola do well? He appears to be bad at everything
Defense and field coverage.

He'll be no more than a scrappy sub option soon enough when Weah integrates into the team and Pulisic moves out wide.

I have a soft spot for Arriola, but I wish he had been converted to RB as a late teen and gone on to be a more technical Frankie Hejduk.

I gave Arriola a lot of shit earlier in this tournament for being wasteful, but the last two games he's kept great pace and been that high energy guy we used to be known for. I just wish he wasn't so hesitant in attack - as a winger.

McKennie makes me think of the old question "What happened if we took NFL / NBA athletics and made them play soccer"

He has the size and speed it seems of these better US 'athletes' and if his instincts continue to improve and he continues with the technical improvement he could be something else in the mid.

How is Cannon repeatedly left with so much space? Pulisic drawing defenders?
They have respect for his pace, but no respect for his shot, so they're sticking to the threats and letting him cover space until he gets to a dangerous position

Wasn't Morris the next great player when he came out of Stanford? Another MLS victim, or just not as good as hoped?

And ohhhh no, arms don't bend like that.
He's fine-ish, blew out a knee in 2018, so that set him back. He was never going to be world class, but solid MLS attacking player.

Many injuries have stunted his growth. He is very good but not the elite player we hoped we had. Still young though

The other thing about Morris is that his age cohort of US players was/is awful, so it was easier to get attention and hype because there were so few others to latch onto.

Would love to see them keep pushing the envelope up the right side. Arriola is working hard but they aren’t getting any attack through him. Ream’s delivery out of the back has been shaky anyway.

If we could find a LW with Arriolas work rate but genuine attacking nous this attack could actually be something. The space is there out wide but we just don’t have anyone who truly knows how to use it. Can almost see the appeal of wanting Pulisic wide but I’m fairly sure that space is there because of his presence centrally

He scored against Mexico when he was like 20 or 21, so his name got out there. Don't think he was expected to be elite, but a decent NT level player.
