Tough ask for Andrade this Saturday. Short notice, 2nd fight within a month after connecting on 231 strikes, the majority on which landed on Lauren Murphy’a concrete face, and zero prep time against an elite grappler in the up and comer Blanchfield. There aren’t many WMMA fights I look forward to but this is one of them.

I've been of the thought that Blanchfield is going to be a huge star for a while now, but this is a real test for her. I am really excited to see her deal with a striker with real power and see how effective her grappling is against someone who will probably be physically stronger than her.

Agreed on all points. This is one of those fights with a contrast of styles where each have elite skills. I like Blanchfield a lot here but it could be a dominant win for either depending on where the fight takes place. For me, it’s all about the lead up and prep time. One had a full camp and this is her Super Bowl while the other was recovering from sore hands and on vacation with her mother 10-day ago when she took the fight.

Blanchfield is going to be a star. Bring on the Bullet.

I was really impressed by how she took the back, sunk the choke and stayed balanced on the back without hooks despite being the longer / taller fighter. The way she kept adjusting the choke with her hands / arms, while her lower body kept improving the position to get 1.5 hooks simultaneously was really impressive to me. That has always struck as one of the things that really points to being one of the really high level BJJ fighters - working independently with both halves of their body- and she has it.

She has the same problem a lot of bjj guys have. Her striking defense is basically “I’m really tough” which works until your body quits before your mind does. She got hit way too much.

I love Erin but am tempered by this performance, while still really good, against a clearly unprepared fighter who has given up her back in the past even when having a full camp to prepare.

That wasn’t prime Jessica Andrade last night and I’d be interested to see her paycheck that enticed her to take this fight. I heard from reliable source that she was icing her hand every day while on vacation with her Mom when she accepted fight 10 days prior….that’s just nuts.

What do you think of this card @djbayko ?

The return of (You can’t see my) Bones, a couple bangers, two competitive WMMA fights, some set up fights and the debut of Bo Nickal in the most handpicked setup fight one can create.

Main card about to start. Looking forward to it. I always enjoy seeing Valentina fight, although Grasso is probably outmatched here. Hopefully the Jon Jones fight at HW won't be as boring as his most recent run of fights have been. I am a fan of Gane - he's a very interesting fighter with how technical he is and how well he moves at heavyweight. I don't really know much about Bo Nickal. Looks like he has an impeccable NCAA wrestling record and a spottier record outside of the college ranks. 3-0 with 3 first round finishes against lesser MMA competition.

So yeah, they gave Nickal about as easy of an opponent as one can expect on a main card, but you have to hand it to him for taking advantage of it.

Not that great by Bo. Goofy kick whiff, stuffed take down, low blow and then gets front head lock, super high on back take, took too long to get finish.

A lot of wrestling talent, but he needs more fights against mediocre guys.

Yes, he looks very raw. He's lucky he didn't fall off the top of his back, and I was waiting for him to not get the finish and then have his arm be dead from a full round of flexing. They're pushing him too quickly.

It was about as disappointing as it could be for such a quick victory. His wiki page says he won via nut blast into submission.

Feel like that guy should’ve just gone with Wrecking Ball. Georgian Wrecking Ball is a little wordy.

Grasso was trying something called a buggy choke but Valentina seems way better on the ground

I feel like Jones should be able to get behind Gane, trip him down and win. But, he hasnt fought in a long time and I don’t know his gameplan.

So wanna watch this, but the price tag stopped me in my tracks. When did the price hike happen. Full disclosure, haven’t ordered a UFC PPV in like 4 years.
