I had Santos winning that fight but figured the judges would find a way to give it to Shevchenko. Them doing it with a 49-46 scorecard is fucking hilarious though. Someone is drunk.

Cowboy Cerrone just retired after his fight. Said he doesn't love it anymore. And it definitely looked like he wasn't into it anymore with that loss to Jim Miller.

Holy shit, what a comeback in a fight in which either guy could have just thought about a takedown and probably would have ended up in full mount.

Barberena wow. Interesting elbows.

I saw that fight as a guy with a head made of stone vs. someone who lost his chin a while ago. Fun fight though.
I was trying to figure out the last time I saw elbows landed that often from that weird angle, and honestly, Wushu movies was the first thing that came to mind. Really odd.

Faber fought with elbows after he broke his hand against Mike Brown in WEC.

I haven't watched a UFC PPV in a while, but I think the next one will be a card in which O'Malley has a good chance of getting his face smashed in or his arm ripped off.

Between his whining from the Chito Vera loss to how he acted after the Munhoz no contest, I don't think there is a guy on the roster that I dislike more.

Edit: So I guess his shtick works. I'd pay to see him get beat up.

Peña is tough as shit, but maybe don’t get hit by the same punch over and over. Maybe try moving away from that lead hook?

One of the best fights I’ve seen in awhile. Great mix of skill and heart.
It says a lot about Pena’s heart that a fight can be scored 50-43 and can still be considered an awesome fight (which I agree it was). Even one better……a 50-43 fight where the loser had a sub locked in deep and others that were close.

Yeah I might’ve given Peña the 4th round, but otherwise it was a dominant one-sided fight. Whoever raised the issue was spot on - Peña’s durability reminds me of Oliveira.

So, it was amusing to see O'Malley get matched up against Petr Yan so soon after I mentioned wanting to see him get smashed. Because of course Yan is capable of doing that. I was surprised by the matchup since the UFC has been mostly feeding O'Malley guys he should be able to handle.

I've been trying to figure it out. O'Malley hasn't been particularly impressive against the Kris Moutinhos of the world. Why Yan now?

Since I'm a hater, this is what I've settled on: O'Malley is a top level bullshit artist, but he's not stupid and he doesn't believe his own bullshit. After getting pushed by some of the smaller fish being fed to him, he knows he's running out of time because as soon as he loses to one of these scrubs after already losing to Vera, his hype train is running on fumes. He really wants to be a Diaz brother, but he's only got the weed part down so far.

So what to do? Make a big jump up in the level of competition with a guy who will strike with you. Maybe you get lucky, but even if you get your ass beat, you're a) getting paid for a "name" fight, and b) losing to a killer is way better than losing to a scrub, and the UFC can still work with that.

Good drama. I wanted Leon to win but don’t like that it happened because Dean separated a clinch on the cage. That was weird. Didn’t think it would matter at the time.

Happy to see Leon Edwards with the shocking head kick KO of Usman in Round 5 when he was losing badly. Usman is a real prick.
Where does the last sentence come from? Everything I’ve heard about Usman is the exact opposite.

Just my observations. Most of these fighters have big egos but he is way too full of himself for my liking. He could be a sweetheart in private company for all I know but that’s not the forum I judge him in as a fan. We only know what they choose to show us.

I'm glad Chimaev missed weight so badly. The changes they made work out better:

Diaz now fights Tony Ferguson.
Chimaev now fights Kevin Holland.
Li Jingliang now fights Daniel Rodriguez, and gets screwed, but who cares?

With those changes, is Chimaev still penalized and if so, do any fighter(s) get a piece? Kind of BS if not. Everyone is training for specific fights and he fucks it all up by not even coming close.

I'm sure Dana will spread some money around to keep everyone happy. Or most fighters happy. Doubt there will be any major repercussions for Chimaev. Too much in future earnings tied up in him.

I read that Chimaev was out eating dinner with his teammates the night before weigh-ins. If true, he missed weight on purpose. He wasn't going to get any credit by smashing Diaz. Only risk if he couldn't put him early. Doubt he really wanted to be gassed and trying to fight Diaz by the 4th and 5th.

If Chimaev missed on purpose, I think there is a better than zero chance that is some kind of work with Dana's blessing in order to have an excuse for these new matchups. Maybe the PPV wasn't selling like a Diaz fight should. Not sure Diaz fans were eager to see that fight.

The whole thing is strange. Backstage shenanigans yesterday and the massive weight miss today.

Along with the cancelled press conference, this ain’t doing a whole hell of a lot for the credibility of the organization. What a mess.

Man, this is a weak card for a numbered event. I know they're big names in UFC, but the main event features fighters who are collectively 1-7 in their last 4 fights.

Damn, Chimaev is an annoying fuck. I'm glad Rogan didn't let him off the hook on missing weight.
He is annoying and he is an excellent grappler. Holland was wrestling really well and Chimaev’s counters were excellent. Short fight but high level stuff.

This sport should be call Ultimate Fucking (weight)Cutting. Brazo guy making 185 is absurd. My pal is tight with Glover, I’m going to ask him what Pereira weighs before he starts dieting.

Hasnt this dude already beaten Izzy 3 times? Why’re they talking about a rematch and a rivalry.
