I’d love to see how Conor blows through so much money. Gotta figure he drinks for free and cocaine isn’t that expensive.

A bit of drama last night into today and certainly not a good look for Mcgregor.

Mcgregor talked smack about the Poirer trilogy on twitter, predicting a 4th round KO. Poirer fired back saying Conor never sent the donation to his charity like he promised he would. Mcgregor then fired back that his team discovered his charity wasn't being honest with the money which is why he didn't donate. Then AGAIN tweeted that the fight was no off because he doesn't want to give Dustin the pay day.

I am typically one to think 90% of the MMA drama is staged, aside from a few very personal battles like Jones/DC and Khabib/Conor, but I think this one is legit. In other words, what the hell is Conor doing? This is such a bad look for him.
Fight back on.

Usman vs. Masvidal with a pretty good card tonight. Also, full crowd. Earlier the crowd was at like less than 10%, but after a year of no noise, it already sounded full to me.

Cormier: back in the day when someone took your back...blah blah blah

Fails to mention that strikes to the back of the head used to be legal and that is how you opened guys up for chokes

Shevchenko get knocked sometimes for having boring fights. That one was thrilling and fucking impressive. Beautiful judo throws all night, using here leverage perfectly.

Would like to see the upset but Usman has looked very sharp (except for one mistake against Durinho) and can hold Masvidal down if he needs to...still hoping Masvidal gets him

I would like that too. If Masvidal really gets a chance to let his hands go, who knows?

I know why Masvidal got the fight, but it really should be Covington in there. I don't think Usman wants any part of him again.

In his last 4 fights Usman has 3 ko or tko

prior to that against UFC competition he has 8 decisions, one ko, and a submission

Usman might be the first guy I ever watched who had devastating ko power show up like this later in his career. Most big ko guys you see it right away.

Dan Henderson who I mentioned above is only other guy I can think of that is somewhat similar but not to this degree , went from being called Decision Dan to crushing people

Usman is interesting. I remember watching the TUF season that he won and thinking that for a guy who was so athletically gifted, he was very conservative and risk averse, which is a reasonable strategy in that environment, but still not something that you see with too many fighters.

The Testosterone “Replacement” Therapy probably didn’t hurt.

Didn’t watch, but love the results—with the exception of Weidman’s injury. I’ve liked Thug Rose since she was on The Ultimate Fighter, throwing insane jumping armbar attempts with absolutely no conscience. Incredibly exciting fighter, and I have boots that weigh more than her.

I think TRT was later during the period UFC was allowing it, but PEDs is a good point as Japan was the Wild West in the PRIDE days so he could have been on anything, yet he was still a rare case even in Japan.

That was a fun fight. It seems like every time I see Cub Swanson fight, he gets he ass kicked, even when he wins.
Swanson is the kind of guy that makes you realize that unless you are the absolute top of the food chain fighting should be a last resort. He is a very good fighter with a good record but he has taken a tremendous amount of damage.

Well, it’s his style too. He likes to get in there and bang, which generally isn’t great for him.

I didn't watch the full card, but man, I really enjoyed Gregor Gillespie's win over Ferreira.

He had to dig deep to get that one. Getting hurt on the feet. Chain wrestled the entire time. Looked exhausted after round one.

And then in the second round, Gillespie just broke him.

Fight of the night and Gillespie got the full $100k bonus because Ferreira missed weight.

I did not know that(about fight of the night, knew the dude missed weight). I was impressed with the guy Gillespie beat but he could not handle the pressure. That was a great performance.

I always want Waterson to be better than she is. She has a good spirit and reminds me of a friend's little sister or something, so I'm always pulling for her. She's actually very skilled. Problem is she's just too small and weak. She can't create any damage with her skills.

Her opponent got saved by the bell in the fourth. Waterson is getting old, is still pretty good, but you are correct that she is not elite.

I compared Waterson to Cerrone with friends last night.

NOT the Cerrone of last night, who should retire, but from a few years ago. A name to bring in fans, but when facing good competition they crumble.

I like Waterson too, but have never expected much from her. She's great for an atomweight fighting at strawweight, and I think the extra weight and size that goes along with a higher weight class means a lot more when you get down to the smaller numbers.

Edit: Especially when she's really an atomweight against a big strawweight and the fight is at 125.

Do you guys listen to any UFC handicappers podcasts? The only good one I’ve found is John Martian’s that he records/released just after weigh-in on Friday (can edit fights that don’t go plus handicap the weight misses). I don’t pretend to know anything about the intracacies of capping these fights and have done very well following his picks the past two years.
