They're also talking Wanderlei Silva as a potential opponent. I guess that's one way to make bare knuckles more palatable for Mike. Put him up against someone who stands zero chance of survival.

I kind of feel like BKFC isn't making honest offers here. They know Mike has no interest in fighting bare knuckled and he can easily command a similar purse, if not greater for something like Tyson/Holyfield III, especially in this COVID-19 environment where everyone's attention is captive. BKFC already has two rounds of free publicity out of this and has admitted that Tyson immediately said "No" to their offer.

Here is the card for May 30th:

Featherweight: Chris Gutierrez vs. Vince Morales
Bantamweight: Louis Smolka vs. Casey Kenney
Flyweight: Tim Elliott vs. Brandon Royval
Light Heavyweight: Jamahal Hill vs. Klidson Abreu
Catchweight (150 pounds): Billy Quarantillo vs. Spike Carlyle
Flyweight: Katlyn Chookagian vs. Antonina Shevchenko
Strawweight: Mackenzie Dern vs. Hannah Cifers
Lightweight: Brok Weaver vs. Roosevelt Roberts
Welterweight: Kevin Holland vs. Daniel Rodriguez
Heavyweight: Blagoy Ivanov vs. Augusto Sakai
Welterweight: Tyron Woodley vs. Gilbert Burns

Even for a "Fight Night" card, it seems like thin gruel. I'm not much of a Woodley fan, but I 'll still be interested to see what Burns does with him. I like watching Elliott, and I guess seeing Holland get back after it so soon could be cool. Not much is catching my attention beyond that.

What am I missing? Any of these bouts stand out to you guys?
The two women’s matches are very interesting. I believe this is Dern’s first fight after having a kid. I’m a huge Woodley fan, I hope the horrible Usman performance was an aberration or he’ll be in trouble.

This tweet thread is from the other day, but I'm just seeing it now. It's beautiful and totally on brand. Conor defends his sharing of the top spot on the GOAT list.

View: https://twitter.com/TheNotoriousMMA/status/1264186864371675136

GOAT THREAD.
The array of finishes, across 2 divisions, with champion status in 1, Anderson Silva is No.1 MMA GOAT.
My array of finishes, across 3 divisions, with champion status in 2, I’m No.2. If not tied 1.
However still active, No.1 is fully secured by career end. And easily.
...

GSP is in at 3. Much less array of finishes but champion status in 2. He is far behind though. Reasons = Left 170 after much damage taken+questionable decision. Never re-engaged 170lb successors. Bottled Anderson fight. Only moved when one eyed fighter presented. Played safe.
...

Jon is 4. Maybe tied 3. More array of finishes than 3 and still active, but champion status in just 1. Reasons = Multiple lacklustre decision performances + questionable decision win. Attempting to safe play HW entry/avoiding its champion.
...

I didn’t mentions PED results on multiple entrants, even though that makes me the clear current No.1 MMA GOAT, along with still being active.
Although it shames, as well as puts all runs+finishes in complete doubt, I’ve snored multiple juice heads.
A true GOAT must do it all.
...

Clarity on Silva’s earlier no.1 spot. Most stylistic finishes on resume. Front kicks to face. Up elbow (albeit outside UFC) Thai plum knees leading to broken facial bones. Long list of jaw dropping finishes. Myself/Anderson have the most exciting/important finishes in the sport!
...

And I’m only warming up.
...

One more on George/Jon decision that will clear why I originally gave George 3 and Jon 4 before a maybe tied 3. A lot of Jons opponents were Anderson’s 185lb opponents but the array of stoppages where not there, or nowhere near Anderson’s despite the weight advantage to do so.

It’s obviously silly to try to read too much into Conor’s ode to his ego, but - even granting that array of finishes is a way to calculate greatness - what’s his? His last umpteen wins were by punches. Silva was taking guys out with punches, kicks, knees, triangles and rear naked chokes. McGregor is a striker who wins one way. Not sure what he’s getting at here, beyond the absurdity of ranking himself higher than top 5-10.

The other thing that will weigh against him is activity/longevity. He really hasn’t defended any title much and his last few fights aren’t making a case for all time great the way his Holloway-Poirier-Aldo run had him set up.

I would give him the Aldo one-punch and Cerrone head kick / shoulder strikes. The latter was one of the most unique finishes in UFC history, albeit against an opponent past his prime. In fact, I'm sure he's only adding that in as a factor now because of his last fight. But yeah, that array is rather short.

Conor vs Anderson Silva at 185? That's a fight I'd love to see get done.
Silva’s fought top competition mostly, but dude has 1 win in the last 8 years. He’d have the weight advantage, but that’s about it at this point.

Gathje & Trevor Wittman were on with Rogan this week. With the exception of Witmman spending 30 minutes doing a promo for selling his fight gloves, it is a hell of an interview for fight fans.

Guys these next two cards are horrible. I need sports so I'll watch and maybe that's the strategy, but damn. Dana is going to be pissed when he finds out about this.

Is this being rumored?

I didn't think much of it TBH. I turned it off early. Maybe I was expecting it to be too much like Firas Zahabi or even Bang Ludwig

Dominant performance. I like Woodley but at minimun Burns replaced him in the title conversation. Still think next Usman fight has to be Masvidal

They were on Rogan a week or two ago. It turned into a marketing podcast for the products their ONX Sports company is making, but you can tell they love working with each other.

Not watching, but I'm following the written play-by-play for the main card. Has Cody's fight IQ improved, or did he just land a lucky shot, or something in between?

He fought smarter, sure. He didn’t brawl. Was it lucky? Not really. He lined him up and blasted him.

Rogan and DC kept talking about his speed and he did look fast, but not as fast as usual to my eyes, but they’re right there so maybe it isn’t translating on tv. It was a close fight up to the KO. Announcers seemed a little biased for Cody.

Cool, thanks. I like Cody and was disappointed with his current slide. Not brawling sounds like a big improvement. I hope that improvement is sustainable going forward.

McGregor retiring whoa.

Hey guys I’ve decided to retire from fighting.
Thank you all for the amazing memories! What a ride it’s been!
Here is a picture of myself and my mother in Las Vegas post one of my World title wins!
Pick the home of your dreams Mags I love you!
Whatever you desire it’s yours ❤
This seems like an unofficial fighters strike. Masvidal and Jones had some other type of statements about not fighting on twitter.

Yea my first thought was about money. Nate Diaz posted something about other fighters "growing up" either earlier today or yesterday. They want a bigger piece.

Hasn't he "retired" like 5 times already or am I thinking of someone else?

Henry is going to be sad when Dana pays Masvidal, Jones and Conor and then congratulates him on his retirement again.

I also wonder if UFC is pulling an MLB, and top fighters are saying “nah”.

Don’t forget Cejido’s retirement. LOL

I just saw the Cody KO. Wow. That was an NCAA Tourney type buzzer beater. Crazy!

Relevant, even if this guy turns out to be lying or a fringe MMA fighter who works out in a UFC branded gym.

Police are searching for a shooter who opened fire after he was denied entry into a bar in San Antonio, wounding eight people, authorities said.
The shooter said, "'don't you know who I am? I'm a UFC fighter from California,'" according to McManus. He said the suspect went back to his car, grabbed "a long rifle" then walked back across the street and opened fire outside the bar.

Even Jourdain couldn’t believe he was ahead on one of the judge’s cards. I’m no expert, but I can’t imagine watching that and thinking Fili didn’t win both the 2nd and 3rd rounds. Glad he won the decision, even though it was split.

I had Fili but I could see an argument for Jourdain rd 2.
