It really is. They really are. I was wondeirng what the purses were for the previous two fights and if it's all going into Conors bank account.
I think Conor gets a lot of points on all the non US PPV but I don’t know for sure.

I’m surprised ufc still measures reach across the back and not from the armpit.

Cerrone looks like he cut to make 170 and Conor looks like he hit the Dorito diet to bulk up. Cmon Cowboy, don’t be dumb.

I know some of you are McGregor haters. But this result is awesome for the UFC. The league is better with a competitive Conor.
Money wise sure

Building your entire brand around one sexual predator and one cheater seems long term bad to me but whatever

I looked at some of the upcoming cards....UFC is in a dark place
Are they just running too many shows? I feel like there are more good fighters now than ever, and the women’s divisions are finally starting to fill out a bit.

There are lots of good fighters, but I think the money is bad enough that once they move up in the rankings, many of them are risk averse enough that the matchmakers have a difficult time.

If true, I don't blame the fighters at all, but it sucks.

I think so. Used to be a long wait between cards but the cards were stacked. Now they do a lot of cards. If you combined the next numbered UFC with the next “fight night” you would get a good card.

That’s what turned boxing to poop.

I thought UFC had the advantage because Dana would never let a Floyd-Manny situation go down. Or what’s going on now with Joshua ducking everyone.

Was watching some pre-Diaz Conor fights today. That fighter is likely gone, and it's a shame. I forgot that he had such an incredible arsenal of accurate kicks which helped him manage distance and set up his knockout punches. Would be cool to see him prove me wrong.
After the shoulder strikes, it was the head kick that did Cowboy in. Conor proved me wrong.

For some reason I thought the UFC had more pull in what matches were to happen an when. It's what kept them from having guys fight cream puffs to retain their title, like boxing.

Am I wrong?

No, UFC can do whatever they want. But when you are sorely lacking in star power as UFC is now, risking that star power by having them get KOd by a dangerous but bland or unknown/unmarketable fighter is not a decision readily made.

D'you think they could do what we've had in boxing recently with an 8 person bracket for a world title...like the one that (great scot) Josh Taylor won last year. In some respects you could argue there's a case for having another organisation/governing body that can have it's own contenders and champs and hype and we can move to unify belts and stuff. Not as many as in boxing, but one more might not hurt.

I mean Bellator does tournaments all the time. Issue with a tournament is dudes getting hurt or getting cuts that take forever to heal even if they win. Hard to run a tournament in a timely manner under those circumstances.

Dana is pushing the Khabib rematch, which doesn’t make sense to me. Conor on a win streak is a UFC cash cow. Why put him at risk again when he has better odds against Jorge or others?
Better off getting the money that is there now rather than counting on Conor fighting a bunch more, staying out of trouble, or not getting smashed by Masvidal or someone like Gaethje.

I think Conor fights Khabib, loses again, makes bank, and then finishes off a trilogy with Diaz. And then goes into semi-retirement with the potential for the occasional super fight that catches his interest when the attention starts to fade or the cash gets low. But like guys chasing GSP, more talk and wishcasting about fights than actual fights.

I think Connor dusts Gathje. I'm 50/50 on Masvidal though and I don't think he beats Khabib.

I'm surprised that Dana is pushing that fight again. If he fights Masvidal it would do arguably the numbers a Khabib fight does and I don't think his star power takes a big hit considering he'd be moving up a weight class to fight him.

Yeah, Masvidal is the obvious fight to make right now. He's at peak popularity, and it would be huge in it's own right. The trash talking between those two would be something else.

Ehh, Masvidal's trash talk reminds me of Wilder's - he's good every now and then for a spontaneous hook, but when he tries to plan something out he comes off as try-hard. He was annoying in the interview before Conor's last fight with his Versace robe and phony belt. I think he'd look goofy doing press conferences trying to keep up with Conor's natural wit and charisma the same way Wilder did trying to match Fury.

As for the fight itself, obviously Masvidal will have some size advantages. They'd both likely stay on their feet because it's a machismo contest. Masvidal has power but he has that heavy handed power that kind of wears you down. Conor has more fast-twitch goodnight power. It's hard to explain, but some guys hit you and it feels heavy, but it doesn't have that sharp bite that just turns your blood cold.

They both have good chins, but Conor panics when he's hurt or tired and gets sloppy. Jorge does not.

On the other hand, Jorge is a super experienced and fairly versatile fighter who has seen everything and can react to almost anything, but he doesn't have Conor's offensive brilliance. He can beat up a guy like Diaz because he's fought 100 Diaz's in his life. I don't know how many Conor's he's fought. Conor has seen everything Masvidal has to offer.

Still, I think Jorge is more durable than Cowboy and than most. He can take Conor to deep water and win in the latter rounds. But, there's always that risk that Conor catches him quick and clean and turns his lights out.

Whilst you all may hate everyone involved, Schaub's food truck series had two interesting conversations w Dominick Cruz and Chael Sonnen recently.

Cerrone is gonna be out for a bit with a broken nose/orbital -- weird almost like he's not a quitter, and there's apparently a feud between Rogan and SAS.

Marciano complimenting Connor. Never thought I’d see the day :)
I think he’s not a good person, and it bothers me when high level athletes can’t come into fights in shape, but I’ve always said his offensive arsenal is extremely impressive.

He uses angles and space better than almost any other striker. I think he picks his opponents carefully, but that’s not new in combat sports. He could stand to move his head better, but so could most.

This dude have a shot against Jones tonight? I’ve never heard of him.

Shevchenko must be primed for another shot against Nunes after Amanda looked slow and sloppy last fight.

It will be interesting to see what kind of Jon Jones comes out tonight. If you'll remember, he looked entirely mortal against a hobbled Thiagos Santos the last time we saw him in June. That night he decided to take some extended time to prepare for his next fight, after previously saying he wanted to fight much more frequently in 2019. FWIW, Jones was already a considerable favorite, and late money appears to be coming in on him.

I think Reyes is much more Anthony Smith than Santos. I’d expect a Jones domination but stranger things have happened. Reyes does have lights out power.

IF Jones comes out looking as shitty as he did in his last fight, Reyes could catch him. Maybe a 5% chance but that applies to like every fight ever.

Jones should roll. He's much better than Reyes.

What is Rogan talking about? D Lewis has always had these kicks in his arsenal. He's just usually too tired to try them later in his fights.

His kicks look way faster

I scored it for Latifi; Lewis was close to stealing round 3.

Latifi has a good chin, but I question his strategy of just watching Lewis wind up and punch him in the face.
