Figure this should be it's own thread.

None for the Patriots yet but some interesting names out there:

Justyn Ross - WR Clemson, medical concerns
Josh Jobe- CB- Alabama
Smoke Monday- S- Auburn
Leon O'Neal- S- Texas A&M

Just posted this in another thread but add Christopher Allen, LB out of Alabama, to this list. Talented player but missed basically his entire senior year with an injury.

Random question—what happened to the U? Was it the conference change? I don’t follow the college game much but remember well in my formative years them being more or less an NFL minor league program.

Names that jump out to me from pre-draft contact with New England: EJ Perry, D'Eriq King, Slade Bolden, Aaron Hansford, Josh Onujiogu (Framingham St!), Josh Thompson

Others: Kevin Austin, Josh Jobe, Jason Poe, Alec Lindstrom, Noah Elliss, Marquan McCall, Mike Rose, Jeremiah Moon, LaBryan Ray, Dallis Flowers

leadership stopped spending money in part because of a series of scandals involving money, drugs, prostitutes etc.

They spent big this offseason, so they may well be back in a year or two.

So Schooler was a safety at Texas, but played 4 years before that at Oregon where he was a WR:
6'1.5". 203, 4.41 40. a 9.78 RAS as a WR, similar as a safety.

Seems like a special teams guy

Given recent moves, I'm surprised the Pats could convince a UDFA center to sign on.

Patriots should have 2 spots left....

I'd really like to see them use one on Justyn Ross. He has MASSIVE injury red flags, and a surprisingly poor pro-day, but he had crazy production when healthy, and it's an UDFA punt.

Lots of people clamoring for Slade Bolden, too.

yeah but that happens with every small white WR and the Patriots. Ross I think is worth it because he showed ELITE performance at one point. Bolden was JAG.
Yes, and also because of the Mac connection. He doesn't seem all that exciting to me, either.

from the wilds of western ma
Was hoping the Pats might sign Kevin Austin, ND WR. But looks like the Jags grabbed him. Definite NFL caliber raw physical tools, but injuries and some academic stuff kept him from being consistently productive in South Bend.

Read that he also plays Guard
Well, he played six seasons, so probably some of everywhere on the line /Pats Pulpit

C Kody Russey, Houston: Another transfer player, the 6-foot-2, 292 pound Russey spent his first five collegiate seasons at Louisiana Tech before transferring into Houston. He started 60 games across six seasons, being named second team all-conference as a super senior.

I’m not sure what he will do but I have a giant soft spot for King. He’s a true competitor. I don’t know if he’s a QB or a slot concert project. Personally I think he’s a slot concert or PS/Scout team QB.

Alabama DE Labryan Ray is signing as an UDFA with the #Pats, per source.
This guy's had quite the run

Labryan Ray, defensive end, Alabama
Ray came to Alabama as a five-star recruit, but ran into injury issues. A 6-foot-4, 285 defensive lineman, he suffered a broken foot as a freshman. He played his entire sophomore season in 2018, but was arrested for public intoxication. The next year, he played in just three games due to a foot injury and ankle surgery. In 2020, he missed six games due to an elbow injury. Last season, Ray played 13 games, making 11 tackles but dealt with a groin injury and dislocated left elbow.

It’s hard to assess what the NIL landscape looks like so far and how that will reshape the sport, but Ruiz is dropping bank to get the U back to its glory days.
