I hope X is going to be back fairly soon. If he's even out for 2 games, we might as well have a solid defensive SS like Two-Way instead of Nunez getting any time there. And Holt is much better at 2B.

Lin has been hot with the bat in AAA too, so it makes sense to go to him now.

This saves us the horror of a Nunez/Holt double play combo, Holt/Lin is worlds better.
Hopefully X does just need a day off and he'll be back tomorrow.

Does Lin have an arm for LF?
Would his defense there, plus his offense, with Beni in CF, JDM at DH > JDM in LF, Beni in CF

Lin has played 62 games in the outfield, mostly CF. What that says about his arm I don't know.

SSS alert but Lin is slashing .261/.348/.387 in 136 career PA. At .254/.329/.429 for this season. Given his defensive reputation and versatility, that would be an incredibly valuable player to have. He's a far cry from 2016.

He still has 1 more option year, and next season is Holt's last arb season, so he could be injury replacement again next year, and potentially full time Holt replacement after that.
