$4.75 AAV, there will be cap gymnastics. Have to figure Zboril and/or Reilly even if DET is retaining 50%.

I wonder if there are some lingering injury concerns with Hall and/or Uncle Nick that are driving this move?
There certainly could be, but their recent injuries, even if only short term, leaves them a little exposed at forward. (Unlike the defense, which seems to be depth-protected better than any time in the last several years).

The Hall news sounds concerning, but a fully healthy forward group of

Marchand - Bergeron - DeBrusk
Zacha - Krejci - Pastrnak
Hall - Coyle - Bertuzzi
Foligno - Frederic - Hathaway

is downright terrifying.

Man, they really are going all in this year - which is great, but also makes me really worry about what that means for Bergeron/Pastrnak/Krejci.

This may be the last season in Bruins uniforms for all 3.

Flags fly forever.

I'd be amused to see Bertuzzi and Marchand on a line together. Two of the elite shit stirrers (is that a word!?)

Blinders are fully on - silver lining is that nobody they acquire currently playing the game of hockey can be worse than Mitch Miller (maybe Slava Voynov aside).

Love this for the price, and I assume barring Reilly going back and/or a doublue retention, LTIR will in play for Hall rest of the regular season

The Bruins are going to be miserable to play against.

This team is starting to slightly resemble 2011 in the amounts of truculence they can put on the ice at any given moment.

Bertuzzi
Hathaway
Folingo
Greer
Frederic
Forbort
McAvoy
Marchand
Clifton

even guys like Bergeron and DeBrusk are so tenacious that you don’t get a moments breath when you’re on the ice against them.

The 1st round pick is top-10 protected, and DET is eating 50% of Bertuzzi's salary.

Edit: This is per the Bruins release

The NHL sent communication around the other day about not fooling around with LTIR in trades (or something to that effect)? I’m assuming that because it’s Hall dealing with a possible LTIR stint, and then hopefully coming back for the playoffs, we’re okay here.

Is this the ol’ Lightning LTIR Special?
We'll see. Detroit is retaining half so it's $2.375 AAV for the Bruins. They can short term LTIR Hall or Foligno but still have a day and half ot maybe move other salary out. Zboril + Reilly would be ~$3 million which would fit in Bertuzzi without using LTIR.

It's a solid pickup, but like others have noted, I do worry about what this means for Hall. But if healthy, there is not a single weak spot in that lineup. They're a freaking monster.

So I'm not as knowledgable as many (most?) of you in this thread are about Bruins history, but here's my question: Is this the most talented team in Bruins history right now? If not, which teams have had a better collection of talent (both in terms of top-tier talent and depth of talent)?

Geez, it's awfully tough to top the 1970-72 Bruins, so I don't think so.

I'm still trying to figure out how we went from everyone wanting Sweeney and Neely fired this past offseason to these kinds of questions.

I think they were making this move regardless of Hall and Fliggy. Monty already stated he wasn't worried about Hall and said he wouldn't be out long. Fliggy was walking without crutches after the Calgary game. I don't think either will be out all that long. Monty could be full of it, sure, but even both miss 5-10 games, that isn't that long.

This is the all in move. Make the roster as tight as possible.

Don’t get me wrong, I love Hallsy - but Bertuzzi has been a better goal scorer over the last couple seasons. If Hall IS out, this might still be an upgrade.

Success does that for you. And also....universal opinion in that they have massively improved with the moves they've made recently. Hard to ignore that.

Wouldn't sending down Zboril be enough?
He needs waivers, but yes, that would work. Considering they have carried him around for almost 3 months, only playing him twice in emergencies, they seem rather reluctant to do so.

I still think another trade is likely to clear room and contracts. They are at 49/50 contracts now and obviously the cap is an issue (unless they're just going into LTIR and say the hell with it).

Ty Anderson on 98.5: Looking like LTIR for either(or both) of Hall/Foligno in order to make this deal happen without money going out
If they put both on LTIR, will that clear room for them to have a look at some/all of the kids (Lysell, Merkulov, Lohrei)? Gotta figure given their cap situation going forward and expected off-season turnover, they're going to need those guys ready to hit the ice starting next year.

Lohrei will probably start with a PTO in Provy this season. Lysell and Merkulov may or may not make it up this year, but on the overall, I wouldn’t sweat it this season if both stayed down. Next year, though…
