Awesome! A little surprising, to be honest
Agreed...on both the awesome and surprise Looking at Football Reference, his closest comps are Darrel Green and Roger Wehrli, neither of whom have received the invitation to a gold jacket. In any case, great players as well...but nowhere near Champ Bailey.

Don't let this be construed as a Debbie Downer for my love of Law. Hopefully a springboard for a great outcome tomorrow.

P.S. I'm still somewhat torqued that a guy like him could be wrenched from Aliquippa and play for the ugly helmets instead of the milquetoast helmets in Happy Valley.

Andy Brickley's potty mouth
This is amazing news. I have nothing to add, but he was my favorite Patriot growing up from the minute he was drafted. The Law/Lawyer combo was a lot of fun while it lasted.

Very happy for him. Hopefully this is the start of an influx of Patriots.

Law getting inducted the night before the Pats play the Rams in another SB is just so perfect.

lol this NFL Honors show introduced Ty Law as a Hall of Famer, with clips of him playing for the Broncos and Jets and then a quick shot of him in a Patriots uniform.

Champ Bailey had 52 INT's, 464 return yards, and 980 tackles in 215 career games.

Ty Law? 53 INT's, 828 return yards, and 838 tackles in 203 career games. Just saying...

Did Peyton give his speech?

I mean, he said he would.

I know it takes a lot, as it should, to retire an NFL number, but sould we consider retiring #24?
Aside from Brady, I’m not sure the team will retire another number. The Patriots Hall of Fame seems to the preferred way for former players/contributors to be recognized.

And Vinatieri was undrafted in 96, though I believe he was eligible in 95 and nobody signed him because he was like a 50% fg kicker in college.
Correct and pretty good memory. Vinatieri was 27/53 (50.9%) in his college career at South Dakota State. He spent the first several months of 1996 as placekicker and punter for the Amsterdam Admirals where he went 9/10 on FGs. He will get his own place in Canton as a member of the class of '96 (albeit undrafted).
