I have a bad feeling that Tampa will beat Houston tomorrow and then fold like wet bags in the ALCS. Which remaining NL team would have the best shots of beating NY

I've got more faith in the Nats on the road today than the Braves at home. Something about law of averages and all, but I don't see the Dodgers in a third straight World Series.

As to the question, Scherzer and Strasburg would have me picking the Nats ... if Dave Martinez can avoid making the traditional Washington managerial mistake

If the Nats, Braves, and Rays win, it will be the first championship series with all East teams since 1999
You didn't answer the question. Yankee fans exempt?

Dodgers and Cards because they have more postseason experience, FWIW. Added reason Dodgers because they'd get home field advantage. We're supposed to hate the Cards but the Braves have too many hot dogs for me, but that's not part of the equation.

It's bad juju to try to pick your preferred opponents. Last year, I was excited to play the Sox in the ALDS and thought there was no way we'd lose...rise to the occasion..etc. This year, I just want to win. Nobody remembers 10 years from now who you didn't beat on your way to a championship. So, I would prefer home field advantage for the ALCS and I would love to not have to do west coast games for the World Series if we were lucky enough to make it. Just so happens that means avoiding Houston and LAD, but that's not my real goal there.

Al, remember where you live and adjust take accordingly. Don't make me call for a mob with pitchforks. Dodgers. Pff.

For some reason I like Cal and Stanford even though I have a lot more reasons to like Cal (still take Cal over Stanford every time though). Same with the Dodgers and Giants. Sometimes you can’t just make yourself like some teams and dislike others.

As of today, Bovada has the current odds to win the WS as Houston +175, NY +240, LAD +450, Nats +700, Cards +950, Braves +1100 and Rays +1600.

So root for the Dodgers and Cards by that metric (and root for the winner of the Dodgers/Nats series in the NLCS). And REALLY root for Houston tomorrow, but that was already a given.

Even though I wasn't alive or too young, I had a grudge against the Cardinals because of 1946 and 1967, but because of 2004 and 2013 I'm cool with them.

I find myself rooting against Houston and L.A., but they are needed roadblocks for the Yankees.

With the exception of Minnesota losing to the MFY, you really never know what will happen in post-season baseball. Which pitchers will be lights out? Which bats will go silent? Which random dude (I still can't get over Steve Pearce) will shine at the exact right moment in time? Will a big bat carry a team as expected? Will a 3rd starter out-shine a #1 and a #2? I'm with Crow - don't try to pick your opponents, because it doesn't, and shouldn't, matter. Just get there, whoever you are, by beating whoever is in front of you that day.

I can't help but root for the Nats and Braves (I sort of love the young, brash, shake it-in-your-face-ness vs. the Cards and their holier-than-thou BS), and somehow I found myself pulling for the Rays, which I did not think would happen. In the end, I might be the only person on the planet cheering for a Nats/Rays WS.

I think the Dodgers are the best overall team in the NL but I like Scherzer and Strasburg against the Yanks. Reminds me of Schilling and Randy Johnson for the D-backs.

Have to root for Houston in the AL and the Nats in the NL I think.
