Always a great, great day on the calendar, though this time it feels earlier than normal? I'll take it.

I'm fired up for this baseball season. I believe the Sox are going to be better than a lot of people think, and they've got a ton of guys who are, or should be, really, really fun to watch.

I sometimes add it to my google calendar because it means the baseball is getting closer (and that makes me happy). These are the dates I have
Feb 11, 2012
Feb 8, 2014
Feb 12, 2015
Feb 6, 2017
Feb 4, 2019
Feb 3, 2020
Feb 3, 3023

So it looks like Feb 3 is on the early end, but not by that much.

Have the Powerball numbers while you are at it?

They can't get these items off the shelf in Florida? They need to ship them specially on the company dime? Seems weird.

Presumably they get them wholesale from a regular supplier and it's easier to throw everything in the truck at once than sourcing odds and ends locally in Florida.

Right. And since the truck is going down there either way...

@sittingstill used to provide a photo album and always tried to include a photo of the vacuums that were moved - they looked like they hadn't bought a new one since Williams was patrolling left field. Found a picture of one back in her 2013 Truck Day album:

Anyone going to JetBlue before the actual games? Either to see position players or even more daring, pitchers?
(or for that matter any of the 3
Atlantic Ocean side parks? (5 teams) )

Probably personally most looking forward to seeing Campbell and Rafaela.

Did it used to be bigger? I've always read about Truck Day but don't recall seeing video of the send off, other than the truck driving away.
It certainly felt bigger during the peak of the sell-out streak era (say 2003-2011). Of course, that's about the time they started making it an actual fan event. I think it's lost its luster, to be honest. There's only so long you can maintain a fever pitch such that a couple moving trucks is a must-see, must-be-there kind of event.

I'm sure you're right. Everything was huge back then. And I agree, 18 years after you win the title it's kinda hard to ask a lot of people to go watch a truck drive down the street.

I used to work next to Fenway. In 2015 it was basically news reporters and a couple of bystanders.

I am a dork, but if I lived there I would show up every year that I could.

I need it more than ever right now.
Hear that. I did go a couple times back when living in Boston, once by accident actually just walking by on truck day lol, and that was enough for me. It was a box to check for sure for me though.

Edit - this was 00-03ish so juuust before the big push.

Pretty sure it was not an event at that time.

I miss those vacuums! Things changed for me at work and it got a bit more challenging to run over every year... I wanted to go this year but I got taken down by one of the respiratory miseries going around. The incredibly mundane things they were loading on a giant truck that would play a small part in the joyous return of baseball was the best. It was actually a little less fun when they started to try to make it more fun.

Except when they let Johnny Pesky think about taking the truck... that was fun.
