Last night's 5-4-3 triple play has gotten plenty of love, and also spurred some understandable follow-up at the end of the thread about John Valentin's awesome unassisted triple play. So here's a home for your triple play memories...

I was at this game in 1990, when the Twins turned three twice. The links here are fantastic if only to hear Ned Martin's voice again -- what the hell does "Mercy me, Gerald!" mean?

I was at the game at Shea Stadium on June 27, 1967 when they filmed a triple play for the movie The Odd Couple. During the game the Pirates were caught batting out of order, which is probably another rarity. My parents took me to the movie the following Summer and the scene flashed so quickly I barely saw it. Now, it's on you tube.

edit: just saw that the clip is posted above.

I was at that double triple play game at well Grandstand seats up above first base
Strangely enough, so was I. Closer to 3rd and up about 20 rows as I recall. Totally missed the significance of it at the time other than a "that sucks" reaction.

Didn't they also have a game in that same series where they were the victims of 6 double plays? Or am I thinking of some other game?

Jerry ("Gerald"?) Remy was his TV partner. He's right at the end, with the voice 5 octaves higher than today.

Yep, very next day:

Red Sox won both games (it helped they rolled 4 of their own DPs, too in that 2nd game. I think the 10 combined was a record).
