Trade deadline

I mean, reactionary BS and all, but it's pretty inexcusable given the Red Sox hole at 1B to be beaten out by that team for Rizzo.

Every other contender and even some pseudo-contenders have made deals so far and Chaim is just letting it happen. I know the deadline isn't today but it's becoming more concerning by the minute

Ha ha, classic. So are they moving on from 3+ years of Luke Voit?
He is hurt all the time, much like Hicks, hard to count on those guys. But yeah, I'm confused, I think more deals are coming still (for NY).

Wiscansin, by way of Attleboro
I kind of dig that Bloom is playing it out like his team is in first place. It's easy to go knee-jerk and demand moves in the face of the Rays and Yankees improvements, but there's time left and plenty of good pieces out there to compliment a very solid group already in place.

The "just do something" crowd is the same group of people who whine when prospects the Sox trade turn out to be good. There's always a way to be miserable if you look hard enough.

But unlike the Yankees we're considered legit contenders right now, and outside maybe the Giants we're the only ones that haven't improved the team at all.
Funny how the teams with the best records in baseball are the ones being judicious with their resources. Purely a coincidence, I'm sure.

This also isn’t tennis, where set point approaches IF THEY DONT ACQUIRE A GUY RIGHT FUCKING NOW.

Kris Bryant please? We really do need to upgrade 1B. But yea, if that NYY offense gets healthy, it can be scary. Cole imploding again please me though.

Agreed. However, it appears now they lost out on Scherzer, Gallo, Rizzo and 2/3 went to NY which is never great.
Berrios, Kimbrel, Aguilar would all be big additions and they’re still there for the taking. These other players coming off the board maybe even decreases the list of suitors and makes it more likely we snag one or more.

There’s still time and we aren’t desperate like the MFY.
This is basically where I’m at. I’ll be severely disappointed if we stand pat, but there’s plenty of time to make one or more impactful moves.

I’m still somewhat irrationally just itching for something to happen, though. I just need to see that the gears are turning.

Not ready to jump off a bridge but getting a little anxious here. Get someone good, Chaim. They’re out there.

I remember being disappointed this past offseason that the Sox weren't doing anything quickly enough or flashy enough.

I would have liked Rizzo, but to me - more than anything - is that Bloom doesn't overreact and overpay. The Yankees and Sox both going after Rizzo was not good for us - their farm system is still better than ours so we are not going to win that race. In the next 1-2 years, I expect Bloom to have this organization on more even footing in the minors.

If the Sox were in the Scherzer mix (and maybe still are?), they’ll plug the 1B hole.

I know others here aren’t so high on Franchy, but I still think he can be an impact player for us. How sure are we that Rizzo’s next two months would be better than Cordero? Especially if it costs us prospects and the opportunity cost of seeing what he can do? I’m pretty sure is time in Worcester gained the team an extra year of arb control. I like Aguilar and Cron and all that, but Cordero has been looking good and it could be a lot more valuable to our future to see Cordero get a chance now that he’s healthy.
Well, we know nothing for sure about anything. BUT .... Rizzo is also a very good fielder. Cordero has just been transitioned to the position ..

He might not do something huge, it’s certainly possible, but you don’t just stand pat when you have a team this good. He’ll make an addition, maybe even 2 or 3. I’d be shocked if we’re in the spot we’re at now at 4pm tomorrow.

Agreed. I think he’s got something cooking but I’m not the most patient sports fan here! I do love the arms race going on here. Last 60 games and playoffs should be awesome.
