Wow i didn't relaize what a damn beating WEEI has been taking, kind of serves them right though for the lineup mashing they have done and constantly placing people in spots for all the wrong reasons!
WEEI's parent company is Audacy Inc., and their stock price closed at just 33 cents yesterday?!?!?!

Last week before the Beasley layoffs Boston Radio Watch had tweeted about hearing whispers of an Audacy bloodbath coming this week.
Audacy has a month or two to get their share price back over $1.00 or they get de-listed.

Yet their market cap is $10m or so higher than Beasley. They just have more shares out there. Both stocks look not great. I wonder if T&R renew in Boston or are able to get money out of a streaming service. Divorce Fred will take top dollar.

Since Fred moved out of the house, he brings up Stephanie by name constantly. Ask my wife, ask Stephanie Toucher, etc. It's way more than he has ever before.

I've been noticing that too. I'm guessing the split wasn't his idea.
Seems that way. I know people love to crap on Fred, but I'm sure moving out to an apartment / house (not sure which) and living by yourself with a cat taking dumps in the shower and having your kids visiting occasionally must suck.

Yeah, I have a couple of relatives who were surprised to find themselves discarded by their spouses out of the blue. Bad enough for the couple but even worse for the kids. I feel bad for the guy, it sucks.

This morning to start the show Fred said the cat didn’t like the litter box and left a present on the stairs instead. Fred said he did not pick it up before going to work.

Yeah, I heard that and that's pretty nasty. I can't imagine leaving the house with shit on the floor and coming back 6 hours later to clean it up.

To be fair, there is a sweet spot to picking up a stray cat crap. If it's fresh out of the oven and soft you end up mushing it partially into the carpet. But waiting at least an hour or two for it to harden, you have a clean pickup. [/crazy cat person]

They should be able to reverse merge and stay off pink sheets then.

He has definitely changed the last couple weeks. Today he was talking about how he used to bang strippers in Atlanta (because he was with musicians and "a normal 24" year old, as opposed to the creepy guys at the club at 2 A.M. Said he has never "willingly" paid for sex. Only time was when a friend brought him to a massage parlor and he "had" to go thru with something other than a normal massage.

Also said he is going to Atlanta this weekend and meeting up with Crash. He alluded to the fact that (by hanging out with Crash) he (Fred) would be trashed (said in a slurred voice) by 8:00 P.M. I hope that isn't true.

His story this morning about the sober girl who helped up the drunk kid on the ground who had pissed all over himself and started making out with him was tremendous.

For years he's referenced several times how he slept with strippers. Made tons of comments "I don't get why people think it's a big deal to like BANG A STRIPPER like it's some great task. I did it it a ton in ATL"

Just catching up with the show via podcast while doing some yard work today. They did two full segments about college drinking stories, and between was a segment partially about Joe Murray’s successful diet, where Fred slips in a “I hate to see you depriving yourself of what you love”… and he’s in ATL this weekend to hang with Crash & buddies as a newly single guy. No judgement, and god knows anybody in his immediate position might be prone to all kinds of things, but it sure sounded like he was ready to throw down. I get it totally, I just hope he’s making decent decisions for himself and being big-picture careful. Honestly I’m just being selfish - the show fills a few hours of my week with top-notch content and keeps me connected to Boston sports - but I don’t want another stretch without Fred there.

That is Fred’s wet dream. No obnoxious broad around keeping a tally of all the brews you crush. Less chauffeuring around the kids. Fred has talked about regretting getting married as early as he did. He’s finally getting a chance to use that marconi clout to score some strange

Lockhart is back. Rich is taking 100% of Lockhart's pay out of his own salary in the form of a pay cut. That's insanity they only brought him back on that. Huge props to Rich. Not many in this world would take a payout that big for someone else. Good on him.

I'm guessing the next T&R Contract Negotiations are going to be rather ugly and they'll hold a hard line with Beasley.

The fact Rich is saying on air he’s covering the salary shows you how upset he is. No doubt this will be a major issue in the next contract negotiations. Otherwise Rich being the humble person he is would just say Mike is back, everything is good and leave out the details.

Rich is the most grounded and generous successful radio host I’ve ever heard.

Anyone who’s ever worked for a big corporation and dealt with asinine layoffs knows exactly what he’s going through. I hope they walk when their contract is up (but stay together in Boston of course). 98.5 doesn’t deserve them.

This seems very short sighted by Beasley. I'm sure T&R can get money from somewhere and aren't beholden to Beasley. T&R's audience is going to go with them no matter where they are.

I think it'd be a different show if it were to go elsewhere, but these guys had a solid formula during and before the BCN days. I have no doubt they'd be successful anywhere. Beasley thinking it can replace them with whatever other option they see as Plan B and ride on the success of the local teams - or at least the high interest in them - seems foolish.

Fred's talked about the satellite/podcast/alternative to traditional FM radio idea before. I'm sure they have a lot of options.

Same thing with Felger and Mazz, and they are also now openly griping about what's going on there. I wonder if all the talent "collude" together on this one as contract talks start creeping up. It's probably all in their best interests.

They could easily get a spot on Sirius or one of the other streaming services and make good money.
I'm worried if they go that route, then their Boston sports centered act goes by the wayside. I would still definitely listen though. Wallach better get his resume updated post haste.

I'm not a radio expert by any means but not having people putting 98.5 on the radio in the morning would significantly decrease the # of people who tune into Zo & Beetle and F&M, never mind Jones. If 25% of the people listening to radio in the morning are listening to T&R I'd have to bet a good number stay listening. If you don't have them to kick the day off, maybe 20% of those are out of sight out of mind and don't put 98.5 on later?

I'm not sure about that. I'm sure there are some people that are on 98.5 because of T&R, but all the shows are on top of the charts so I can't really see that changing especially when the alternative in town isn't nearly as good.

Yes, that's rather standard and includes Lockhart's Healthcare, Dental, 401k, etc. It's the fully loaded cost of an employee. It's absurd that Beasley drew such a hard line on that.

Totally understood that but seems incredible tonedeafness.
Oh it 100% is. One of the top 3 people at your 5th largest station pleads that he needs someone at that hour of the day to continue their success and this is the deal? I'd put Fred, Rich and Felger in Tier 1 of the success of the station. (I'd also put Hardy in there due to all of the other 500 things he does for the station) with everyone else as Tier 2 and this is the deal you come down to? I get that Rich can't overcome corporate, but this is really the only deal they could come up with?

If I'm Rich, I'm done with this station after the existing contract unless they make major concessions.

Shit. Sounds relatively dire. I’d likely follow the show to another outlet but the loss of Boston sports as a concentration would be a blow. Probably the end of the current “gang” as well - I imagine T&R would stay together, but who knows after that. Hopefully it’s all overblown, but I wonder if Beasley is calculating that they could get, say, half the ratings for a quarter of the cost, and would be fine with that.
