RIP Toucher and Rich Show ... It was fun while it lasted

Love this:
- Fred tweets out an apology to everybody on the show.
- Listeners respond. Some supportive. Some not. Some believing management/Rich made him do this apology.
- Fred focuses on the latter. Starts sending out passive aggressive tweets and updating his bio to stick it to Rich, the show and management.

It’s probably true Beasley wanted this situation squashed and made him post the apology. Fred could’ve just left it with the tweets, but he HAD to get a few jabs in. He can’t help himself. The show has been carrying his water for the past 2 years. The throat. No-shows. Not working a full week in god knows how long. And this is the thanks he gives them? Fred is a narcissist loser.

I bet Beasley is thinking long and hard if this guys is even worth the trouble. We all know they LOVE to cut salary!

They were taking about the worst guests at the end of the show and were talking about Jon Lovitz being the worst, which is also Fred’s current avatar.

But that's also the Liar character too, so maybe a dual meaning?

Fred Toucher has more unanswered questions than the Kennedy Assassination.

I really don't know if this is a complete work, whether Rich and Nick hate Fred, Beasley forced him to apologize or if this is the end of T&R. This feels like Brady's end with the Patriots.

As much as I don’t want to believe it, I feel like this is real and the show will be over soon. It makes me super depressed. I’ve been a fan of this show since they were on afternoons at WBCN and as dumb as it sounds, it has gotten me through a lot of stuff. I don’t think there is anything consistently funnier than this show.

Freds mad that management made him tweet out an apology. Now he’s backtracking and dealing with it in his own way. The fact that on one on the show aired out anything on social media tells me they were pissed and dealt with it behind the scenes.

Thanks Fred. You ruined a good thing.

what should the new show look like? Rich and Hardy? Hardy and Big Jim? Wallach and Sarge?

also, it seems like these tweets come around the same time each day. Early evening. Just saying….

What are you saying? If you are insinuating something, have the guts to say it.

Cool Beans Nick. You have a hell of a career ahead of you! Keep harping that I went to rehab. I council people (including those very close to the show) and its great that every time I say something you don't like you call back my old issues.I'll own when I make a mistake but it's me clear headed that said it. CANCER. I can finally say it By the way Vamanos in Nick Gimelli

At first, I thought this wasn’t really Fred, but after this week I’m TOTALLY convinced this is actually him! Hi Fred! Mmm yes yes!

That being said, this isn’t Nick. Sorry.

I couldn’t say it any better. I feel like two of my close friends are fighting right now and it’s horrible.

Is it just as simple as that Fred is terribly insecure and the ratings in his absence have not only held but gone up a bit? Feels like everyone thinks the show is better when they're both on, ying to the yang and so forth.

If even half this stuff is real, I hope Roche is filling in for Wallach on Fred’s first day back to awkwardly watch it all play out in front of him. Maybe Mark Gemelli can call in to mediate.

I guess if they talk this out on air it could be very compelling. That said it doesn’t sound like a both sides thing. It sounds like Fred is in a tough spot and is flailing. Who knows. Why is Nick a major player in this drama? I don’t really get it.

I hope everyone involved realizes that (when functioning) the show is great, but none of the individual components are that interesting on their own or with others. I’m not listening to Rich and Pals, and Fred without Rich is way unbalanced. Things end, I get it. This feels like the last few months of the show on BCN when they were basically implying the end was near. That worked out, this might not. C’est la vie, ground beef is really a winner nowadays.

So what exactly are you looking to accomplish with all this nonsense Fred? You’re pretty much ensuring nobody wants to work with you. It’s a shame man, the show WAS great. But apparently you’re ready to just torch that bridge

A SOSH work within a 98.5 work? Man, I haven’t seen a story this intricately plotted since the Mega Powers exploded.

If they are who they say they are or they are who they accused of being, then they should go take their arrested-adolescence to some other playground. Or just get professional help.

Is there any profession more addicted to drama than radio?

Kirk had some intel on his show today. Rich going behind Fred's back in meetings, sharing text messages from him, wanting approval of the Tweet/Statement Fred came out with on Friday. Whole thing sucks and it really is reminiscent of the O&A breakup. Rich is 100% Opie and Fred is the talent that is getting forced out.

It's interesting that Kirk is chiming in on this. His producer did a quote tweet asking Fred to come on the show. I know Fred has said -- despite their "feud" in the past -- that he likes Kirk. I wonder if Kirk is trying to recruit him over to his show and/or Barstool? I am curious as to what Fred's options are in this shrinking industry, should he not re-sign with Beasley et. al.

Having said that all that -- and I know he lurks and has now posted here -- I hope Fred is doing well and is back on the show soon. I find myself listening to it less and less since he's been on hiatus.

He usually has a rotating guest on Fridays and I'm sure he'd like him in but that's only going to happen if Fred no longer has a contract with Beasley I'm sure.

Going to Barstool would be an option for sure where he'd likely at least be making close to what he's making now but if Kirk is trying to recruit him in, it would be tough where he'd likely need Portnoy's clout, and he doesn't have much of that anymore. Strange feeling we're getting Toucher and the Hillman come January 2024.

Wallach as a show lead does not work and the show is getting very difficult to listen to.

Yeah, I'm not sure Fred brings a big enough audience on his own for Barstool/Penn to sign him on as a solo show/podcast. It would likely have to be under Kirk's gambit somehow. Good point about Portnoy's fallen clout. He couldn't even save a guy's job (Mintzy) due to saying something Portnoy himself has said countless number of times. (How long until Penn cuts ties there?) Maybe if Fred brought some gambling stuff to the table, but that's definitely not his forte.

Strange feeling we're getting Toucher and the Hillman come January 2024.
Ugh that sounds kind of awful.

No offense to you, @RyanBros14 , but this seems like it’s coming from Fred to Kirk. Sounds very paranoid. When Fred was last on-air, there was discussion about how he was uninterested in and did not attend show meetings with management; that was something Rich handled. When Fred was beating up on Nick and Rich came to Nick’s defense, it was clear that Fred was out of touch with respect to management demands on the show and its staff. Fred got really defensive and wanted to know why he wasn’t tuned in to any of this. Rich didn’t want to air it out during the show and said they’d talk off-air. Representing this as Rich “going behind his back” may or may not be true, but given his previous disinterest in doing any of the hard work behind the scenes, I have my doubts.

What is true is that the phone works both ways, i.e. Fred could always try and reach out to Rich and resolve, but it sounds like he’d rather complain to Minihane (of all people). Remember, Fred is ALWAYS a victim. If Fred is trying to use this as a negotiation strategy with Beasley, he may want to start considering Plan B..

Anyone that would side with Fred in all of this is just plain wrong. Rich has kept the show afloat for so long in Fred's absence.

with the amount of tweets over the past week, I'm surprised we haven't see an instagram/twitter update yet from Fred
