Fred and Jones were just completely awful this morning, at least the part I listened to. "Santa Jones" was handing out Christmas presents to the Boston teams/athletes. To the Brad Stephens and Bruce Cassidy he gave video cameras so they can cheat. You know, like Belichick and Cora have done, and those teams won when they cheated so the Bs and Cs should get it on it.
I thought the Ainge interview was pretty good in addition to their Celtics talk in the 6-7 hour. Fred was good today in my opinion, it's just Jones that sucks and brings everything down with his tired schtick. Fred paired with Murray would've been better.

Heard Freddy T saying at the end of today's show that tomorrow he will be with Joe Murray and Adam Jones. Yep, looks like I'll be skipping that one.

I gotta be honest here, I really don't get what you all like so much about Joe. All he is is "hot takez" and gambling talk. I really can't wait for Wallach to be back.
I like that Joe seems to have a good, intuitive feel of when to insert himself into a T&R conversation, and when to lay low. I don't dislike Wallach nearly as much as some people in this thread, but he definitely has a knack for gobbling up air at times.

I do appreciate Wallach's updates more now that I've heard Joe doing them for a while. Joe makes a lot of silly mistakes for a guy who has presumably been doing that kind of gig for years.

I skipped it in favor of Spotify this morning - was it the Bruins player doing reggae songs again? That idea's been tired for years. Generally I think the show has been good for the last few months, but they definitely checked out for the holidays a couple weeks ago.

I checked out about halfway through Wednesday's show. An almost full hour of Nick and Bird? Yeah not happening. Nick would be boring enough, Bird is unlistenable even in small doses. Not a big hockey fan so Jaffe and DeBrusk don't get me listening. On to music and podcasts until January 2.

Both. In don't need there interpretation of 12 Days of Christmas. Certainly don't need to hear all 12. And they play Midget with a Dog at least 3 times a month.
Weird. I listen a lot, more than most and I don’t even remember the last time I heard Midget and a Dog. I heard them play 12 days of Gruden once. They did replay the horse or bad band segment this week though and there were a lot of replays in general as Fred didn’t want to put in any effort.

I feel like they haven't put much effort in since around Thanksgiving. Re-playing the Brookline calls, replaying the "best bits of 2019", that godawful Nick and Bird movie review...they've basically been technically working 4 hours per day but actually doing anything for 3 for the past month or so

To be fair, it's always to open the show. Like right after the intro, before they even say one word

Fred with the questions everyone wants to know:
"Did you vomit blood?"
"Were you able to pleasure yourself?"
Jesus dude, just sit it out!

Edit; I know I make the comparison often and I apologize but their trend of getting people on the phone who they know the audience doesn't want to hear from is very late career Opie and Anthony. Sarge and Bird are very much their version of Bobo and Lady Di

Did they ever mention today why Fred was out? I was curious and went back to listen to the beginning of show off of posted podcast and several minutes in that don't even mention his name.

I listened to a chunk of the Jeff Howe stuff and thought it was odd that Fred wasn't asking any questions, just assumed he was out sick.

I don't think they touched on it at all, which is a little weird. Normally there's a diarrhea joke or something. Definitely not a great day to miss either considering what happened to the Pats. Hopefully everything is OK.

Same. Obviously, something happened though, because Joe Murray got the call to come in and arrived at like 8:30.

So a quick review of Thursday's show:

Bankroll boys. No thanks.
Sarge. Ugh. No.
Rock and Roll Mike. Fuck that!

Hard pass. What, was Bird off? God everything sucked!

Where the hell does Rich hear this crap? I literally have not heard anyone but him talk about this hypothetical KAT trade. Am I the only one who doesn't hear this anywhere else?

Could have sworn he had the exact same conversation with Gorman last week. And Rich’s LeBron hate is over the top and lame.

I could go for Saved by The Bell Talk weekly. The issue with the show is Rich's AD to the Celtics, Is Gronk Coming Back? KAT to the Celtics? Is Brady Coming back? Would Gronk come back if BB wasn't the coach and they have more fun? greatest hits playlist.

I love Rich but he can't lead a show to save his life. He's great at his job, which is not leading a show. If he's ever leading the show 5-6 times a show he goes "Oh callers whoever had this wacky thing happen to you call in" He's a color guy, not PbP.

I always wanted to hear from Bobo and Lady Di and Toucher and Rich will never be that funny.

Sad to know where Di ended up. Her own fault though, they tried for years to get her help
Very! And some of what Bobo went thru on the air was horrible, if it was real.

I like T&R and they make me cringe far less than O&A. Burnt-out, mailing-it-in Fred is a beautiful thing so I love when he bombs an interview.

I don't listen to the show too much any more due to my lack of commute, but do they spend time discussing Saved by the Bell? That's pretty great, if true.
in depth conversation today about when Rod Belding showed up at Bayside as the cool teacher. It wasn’t Go Bayside! Level but good. Fred has a great awful Different Stokes joke on Danny Ainge last week as well

I’m guessing Fred whined his way out of it. The real question is why didn’t they bring Murray back for Walldick instead of Adam Jones

Yeah that has only helped make the show even more disjointed. Jones as 3rd wheel with Rich mic’d in from Tampa? Terrible radio all around. And Fred is becoming insufferable with stuff like that. He is extremely lucky to even have this gig in an ever dying industry.

I don't know, let's give Fred the benefit of the doubt here a little bit, I have a hard time believing that this was the plan all along knowing how disjointed it would be. Is that confirmed or was Fred maybe delayed by family and will be joining Rich later?

Why is a local radio station even there when the team isn't in the SB? I get that national shows need to have a presence, but do Patriots fans really care about a weeks worth of interviews about this game? Rich will make the best of it because he's not afraid to ask weird/uncomfortable questions during the media availability, but outside of that i was surprised to hear they were going to be on-site.

Rich is great at field audio. It's one of the things that set this show apart at the beginning. There are plenty of interesting/funny things he can do at the superbowl press events. He should be down there and calling in. Makes perfect sense. But taking the whole show down there so they can do radio row interviews with people almost nobody in Boston cares about is nonsensical. If guests suck, Fred has to put up with them instead of just hanging up. He certainly won't like that.

I love Fred, but giving Fred the benefit of the doubt for being lazy and not wanting to travel is completely fair. For a solid couple years he could barely get to work without a wake up call, can't get to there if it snows or he has the 'rhea.

Fred just seems like a miserable person for some reason. I can only assume he wasn't like this when the show started?
Fred is a miserable person which is part of the charm. Part of it is him playing it up though. When the show started he was drunk a lot, which isn't much different than he is now but the show's in the morning.

Fair point, but, I can't see the company/station going along with it and saying "OK you're a pain in the ass and since you don't feel like going during one of the biggest weeks in all of sports with some of the best guests, you can stay home and we'll just send Rich solo"

Now maybe this is related to the Jim Gray stuff from last year, but I don't see a scenario where the station would send Rich without a partner, even if that partner was Murray or Jones.

I had thought the same thing this morning. I’m assuming Fred is going but I didn’t hear them say anything today Also they have a promo saying they’re covering it as North to South on Radio Row. Maybe Fred’s got a personal issue? Wallach Was in New Orleans and was flying back to Boston today so he’s not going.

Keep in mind that the game is on the East coast but neither team in this years game is based on the east coast so radio row is probably dead until at least 8:00 am. Rich is probably doing most of his work getting audio in the late morning and afternoon. Having Fred and Wallach there live would have been kind of pointless.

Rich was literally the only person until 7am in the entire room. Then Fescoe showed up. He’s going to be on tomorrow to talk shit about the Pats and Old England.

I know not everyone is a fan, but Murray would have been perfect for this week with all the weird gambling shit that pops up in the lead-up to the SB. They could have done a four man show with Rich + Murray and Fred + Wallach.

On my phone and suck at the interwebs but Fred just posted on his IG there wasnt the budget for the full show to go since the Pats aren't in it and Rich is great at getting audio. I believe he put it under a picture of his mother
