Hearing Fred push Wallach into awkwardly talking about how he likes big butts and has a Nicki Minaj screensaver was cringeworthy.  I don't hate Wallach like some do but I certainly never want to hear about his sexual turn-ons or desires.  Yuck

Ha! I tweeted them the picture of Gomes' bat that they've been talking about for the last few minutes. This is the greatest moment of my life. Or something like that.

I am not sure what is worse, the nightmares I will have from the Only in Michigan lady or the earworm I will have all day with Midget with a Dog.

The nightmares from the Only in Michigan Lady, FTW. Who the fuck sings about putting a mini-poodle in the microwave? I loved Fred's response, "The 500 miles to NY guy is freaked out by this. He just wiped off his makeup, put down his instruments, retired from music entirely, and just went to work".

Earworm.  Somehow, I have already forgotten about the poodle verse.

It's like a parody song from Frisky Dingo... but real.  Mind-blowing.

Roche crushing it this morning, and Fred knows exactly how to play it. Would Roche ever consider taking the Wallach chair?

Yeah, let me give up my cushy dream job of Red Sox reporter for the local TV Station to get up at 3-4AM to play 3rd chair.

He's awesome but the only way he takes this gig is if Fred or Rich leave and even then I think he's probably better in small doses rather than every single day.

Pretty much everyone is better in small doses.  And that extends well beyond media.  :)

Toucher is being an asshole IMO. If the guy doesn't want to do something like this, then he shouldn't have to. This is not part of his job technically. I don't care how much Wallach may suck, Toucher is being a bully and a jackass.

Didn't hear the meltdown but I was coming here to post that the show really suffers without Rich. All shows take a hit when one host is on vacation, it's to be expected, but Fred needs a strong voice to reign him in, and Wallach just isn't strong enough for that role. I don't hate Wallach as much as others here do, this is not meant as a pile-on, but more to say that "strong, sarcastic, losing-his-mind" Fred isn't nearly a funny without Rich to moderate and act as a foil.

What was the scenario?

Today may have been the worst I have ever heard from the show (minus when both the guys are out). Fred was doing a Larry Flynt impression that was...just grating on the ears and not good.  I really think he was trolling the audience but it went on for 15 minutes.  I was literally getting angry and kept waiting for it to stop.  CLICK!!  Turn back over 7 minutes later, still going on.

it started Monday, it was a sports trivia contest between Wallach and Roche. If Roche lost he had to karaoke some song in studio, of Wallach lost he had to play take me out to the ballgame on his clarinet at BC during the 7tg inning stretch on Saturday.

Wallach smoked Roche in the trivia but Fred informed him that Wallach will have to do it agin everyday until he lost and will be doing the clarinet no matter what as Fred already informed BC he's doing it. Wallach says he's uncomfortable doing it in front of a crowd and Fred didn't even bother to ask if he had 2 hours out of his weekend to do it.

Fred started whining and making fun of Wallach for being so angry and Roche actually sounded uncomfortable throughout the whole thing.

What you left out was that Wallach was pissing and moaning about it and Fred reminded him that they rarely ask him to do any stunts and that this was for the good of the show.

Look at all the shit Adolfo has to do, yes most of it sucks but it helps the show and now Wallach is asked to make some kind of contribution.

My favorite line from Fred was "Look if you just want to be the headline guy that's fine, but if you want to be a contributing part of the show sometimes you have to do stuff you don't want to do" or something like that.

I disagree on Roche, I thought he was loving it and enjoyed taking little jabs at Wallach.

Roche said he understood where Wallach and Free were both coming from but wanted to stay out of it as he hates confrontations.

Adolfo has no other use on the show, he's useless except for his street shtick. I know he answers the phones, but he's awful at it.

It isn't like Wallach hasn't participated in some things before during show hours. This is a sports show first and foremost and while I tend to agree Wallach is not good with a lot of his sports talk, that was what he was hired to do. He wasn't hired to go out and play a fucking clarinet at a BC game. Hell he already played the damn clarinet in studio for them, which was not actually that funny anyways.

My point is Fred should have asked him if he was comfortable doing it first before volunteering him. Once he wasn't asked before hand I don't blame him for being angry. If a coworker of mine nominated me to do something without my knowledge I would be pissed off too. Just in my opinion, Fred came off as a jackass.

I'd definitely have a panic attack if I had to play clarinet solo in front of that many people...and I'm a gigging musician. Totally understand where Wallach is coming from on this.

I just think Wallach doesn't want to do it because he knows he sucks and it will be terrible. That being said, I would probably go there in a Kenny G costume and pretend to play while everyone hears a perfectly performed MP3 from my hidden phone. :D

Protect that shield Bert. Saying there have been no anti-Patriot leaks since Wells took over. Also that the Patriots helped this get out of hand by not admitting guilt during Super Bowl week. He's insufferable.

This has been Volin's take as well in his last two Globe columns, with neither he nor Breer fully addressing the series of leaks--many of which have been revealed as fiction and/or were brushed aside as "insignificant" by the Wells Report--between the end of the AFCCG and the SB.

Volin hacking it up today.

Rich shutting down his argument from the past few days (I'm guessing. I don't follow him) with a 30 second google search was perfect. When you get the Bob Kravitz seal of approval as Fred put it, that's not something to be proud of.

Edit: And he's 0/2 with Brady and Yee both denying it flat out.

That was fantastic. The amount of false information Volin has spread is insane for a "columnist/reporter." I have no problem being "fair", but he isn't because it isn't true. He had absolutely nothing to say when Rich shut him down on those two statements..."well I said from the beginning Brady has a good chance,". Nothing to do with what you have been saying.  You've also been saying for a week now he or Yee have not denied it.

Volin sounded like a complete clown.

However, the T&R guys saying just after his segment "I think we all agree the science is there" suggests that they are not all that well-read on this either.

I don't listen to the radio much because it tilts me, but every time I turn it on a local broadcaster is saying stuff that assumes the Patriots are guilty. I keep hearing, "This is the Patriots fault, if they just had admitted it up front and they would have gotten a slap on the wrist." It is infuriating.

Admitting cheating leading up to the Super Bowl is always a great idea. What's the worst that could have happened?!!!?

It's kind of ironic that Volin completely discredited himself by not doing simple google research to support and/or refute his claims about Brady and Yee, while at the same time dismissing the Pats rebuttal out of hand for the "Deflator" response etc. He is quickly turning into Borges Jr.

I couldn't believe he actually said the evidence doesn't matter because Brady hasn't denied doing it.  What?!?!  Then when informed Brady had, in fact, denied doing it multiple times, he just brushed it off?

Holy shit was that awful.

No reason to watch the Red Sox any more this season. Wallach has declared the season over. Also, no sense in watching the next few seasons because nobody in our system is Mike Trout.

Wallach would have been a star if he was this prominent pre-2004. He is the poster child for fellowship of the miserable.

3.5 out on Memorial Day.  Pack it in boys, these are the dark days.  Nobody has ever come back from this big a deficit this late in the season.

The written questions and Brodolfo's stilted delivery was great. And Rodney was a good sport.

I know this is a few days old but the Larry Flyntzgerald discovery killed me. I didn't care for the initial LF impression but the absurdity of him grumbling "I'm open...I'm taking the top off the defense" was hilarious.

It's bad. Today his hot take was that Hanley only hit the home run because he was DH and not in left field. They seem to be giving him a segment or 2 each day to rant on the Red Sox. I get that it's kind of a sports dead time and there are only so many non-sports segments you can do every day, but this is not the answer.

Although they could play entire hours of the Paul Finebaum show with T&R doing commentary and I would listen. That stuff is hilarious
