or it’s a joke that he n everyone on the show knows it’s not her and he just wanted to say look even my ex-wife hates rich
Pretty tasteless "joke" then. Especially with Fred's emphasis on "HATE" and Wallach nodding along with a dead serious look on his face.

I don't usually care for Fred airing the show's dirty laundry regarding Rich, but that clip was actually great. It wasn't a bit or vague or passive aggressive, it was just honest and revealing.

Also, I think I get Fred and John's connection now. When Fred said "she's always hated him" and John responded "I know", I realized that those 2 must have been commiserating about Rich for quite some time.
It's great when it's the actual dirty laundry. As far as I can extrapolate from these comments, they believe Rich was trying to take over control of T&R and subordinate the rest of them and using contract negotiations to hold the show hostage.

When they give the specifics the whole thing makes a lot more sense. I believe I'd hate a guy that did that too.
Fred's ex dropping a nuke on Rich today:

Figure it's coming from Rich always playing up his poverty in childhood and common man status later on. Not exactly a man of the people with vacation houses all over the place.

It always seemed to me that Rich managed his money (and personal life) way better than Fred so not surprised that Stephanie is jealous.

Yeah, I don't really get where the "Rich is always playing the 'common man' status" take comes from. But it seems clear he grew up in relative poverty and boot strapped and climbed his way on his own to financial success. Sounds like a great success tomorrow to me. But maybe punching down on this and mocking someone who may now be suffering financially for "jokes" is the way to go. What do I know. But also maybe Rich just deserves it, because he allegedly tried to get Fred fired and seems to be hated/disliked by just about everyone he has worked with? I honestly don't really have a dog in this feud. The whole thing seems like high school level drama and silliness.

I know the man is no longer with us, but I would love to hear an Eddie Money impression again soon. That was top-tier radio.

Oh no! He may have to sell for a big profit!
For real. Owning property in 2 wealthy New England vacation spots is a problem that I would like to have. I get that his current work situation isn't the best, but having property in those 2 spots can be a revenue stream all by themselves.

Oh I agree, I was trying to propose an explanation. It seems like a lot of pent-up stuff finally got an outlet. I'm sure there's more context about it between them.

The common man stuff I took to be things like saying "going to the Cape" instead of "going to my house on Nantucket." It was one of the things Fred (and Wallach) mentioned a while back about Rich putting on a front.

they say you’re not really dead until people stop talking about you. So by Fred not doing the impression, he is actually killing Eddie Money. Fred, please don’t kill the money man.

It’s also that time of year where they have to play the thanksgiving interview with Eddie. Gobble Gobble it’s the Money Man!

Are you gonna have that last slice of shoe?

I know that Fred expressed some regret at one point for doing actual interviews with the money man, but I thought they were perfect. Eddie started an interview by immediately asking the guys what they knew about Dave Roberts, but used a politically incorrect term to refer to him. Also, Eddie's great story about losing a rental car in a corn field, and the farmer finding it the next season, which made Eddie real happy, as his best saxophone was in the car.

This is out of the blue, but I heard on the midday show they were revisiting some youth football announcer clips and it reminded me of this

Does anyone remember the d3 college football announcer bit? I think the school was in Connecticut, there was a girl named Hanna and a couple of guys who were absolutely clueless? I remember it being some of the shows funniest audio but they have not replayed it like ever

I don't know if there's a way to find the audio but I would love to hear it! Might reach out to Fred and Hardy to see what the deal is

For the record, when Wallach corrected Fred about this on today's show he got it wrong. Eddie didn't say "Asian". Fred was thinking along the right lines that it would've been a term used in the 1950s.

It was great to hear the money man on the show again.

Hey guys,

Im new here and I hope everyone is doing well. I honestly am looking far and wide for any audio of Toucher and Rich when they were on WBCN. I have collected some audio from some very fine people but I am doing everything in my power to get more. Any help with this would be wildly appreciated. Apologies in advance if this is the wrong thread to post this but it seems right so fuck it.

I have none but I'd love to hear old BCN stuff if you can make any of that available - that was my golden age of listening. Remember when they did "the effing champ" drinking contest? I know it's less funny knowing Fred's addiction but damn that was some fun radio.

Thanksgiving having just passed, I was just thinking about the “Will a turkey eat turkey” bit.

The way things stand now, between rights and relationships, hard to imagine that either Fred ir Rich (in whatever capacity) will want to or be able to replay much vintage stuff. Best bet is definitely anybody with a private collection. Best of luck - and if you find any audio, do share!

Crash always seemed pressed for time when doing these. One time it seemed like he had to bail to do a radio/TV hit for his own job.

Just popping in to say I truly enjoy this show now. I think Fred and Hardy took some time to hit their stride, as expected, but they have in my opinion. Credit to the whole team.

It’s been very good. Callahan is must listen every week. Forsberg and Hardy are the surprise bromance we didn’t know we needed (also a solid rapport with Fred even though I miss Gorman). I’ll even eat my words on Kendra, I think the way she’s developed as their Friday guest has been good for everyone.

If the guy who calls in as Henry Rollins posts here, bravo to you, man.

Did the Jets / Madden story break in time for Fred to talk about it on air? I think he’s off tomorrow sadly.

edit - hour 4, first segment

Hardy, Dan, and Kendra have been one of the most enjoyable fill-in shows ever. Just excellent, even Kendra's out of breath headlines led to a very funny bit

Except for Breer, he's still a pretentious douche canoe

It was a pleasant change of pace. Hardy got to cleanse himself of his douchey sidekick persona for a little while. I listen on Mondays and Fridays during Reiss/Breer appearances. This was good.

Breer is great when tOSU has to eat a little humble pie for a period of time. His NFL stuff is a great complement to Reiss, Callahan, Perry et al.

Woof… That makes me miss Johnston & Flynn. They were great when T&R were out.
Of all the fill ins, he’s the only one who’s an instant turn off the radio, especially at 6am during a holiday week. Totally wrong personality for the shift. I’m assuming he’s extremely cheap and there’s no ratings this week so why waste money?

Johnston and Flynn were perfect for it.

To my knowledge he’s coaching High School Football, so weekends are out and one his kids was doing shows on Broadway plus COVID hit. Johnstons alluded at times he just got too busy with family and gave it up.

I used to see him at the gym. He was a terrifying human in person, like he’d have no problem killing anyone, although like his Ravens teammate I doubt he did.

Ditto. I tried listening in twice during my commute this week and It's just bad radio and not even remotely interesting.

I thought yesterday’s show with Barth, Callahan and Kendra was a perfect vacation fill in show. Different, light hearted but talked a lot of sports. Callahan is really growing on me.

Today Dondero. Click.
