Agreed. Especially in real time, because you can rewind and pause as you are listening/watching.
I do this all the time because I have a lot of 8am calls and 8am has some of the best segments. Just pause and pick back up when I'm off.

In all seriousness, the podcast should be going up more timely moving forward. We use a program that records each segment automatically through the board. It’s super streamlined if done correctly. 12 has caught on real quick behind the board, which benefits me and my duties, including the podcasts.

Excellent! Thank you, young Nicholas. Tell your dad I said hello and that I miss him.

Yeah, he was on this morning for a while and did a big recap on his life since leaving the show. Oddly enough, I thought he came off as a bit of a cocky a-hole but he was probably just over-compensating to prove that he wasn't so young anymore. Fred got very excited about getting Adolfo & Kendra Middleton together for something.

Back on a visit? He’s not rejoining the show, right?
Here visiting until Sunday/Monday. Fred flew him out and changed his flight from Thursday night to Monday so he could hang out. Will be on tomorrow with Crash.

Fred genuinely seems to love Adolfo and is always in a great mood when talking about/to him. Discussed possibly having some relationship with the show. Doesn’t seem like Adolfo has a lot going on in the moment (lives with brother and father and works fixing phones). But he seemed happy.

Fred said something about not marrying a girl you met in high school when Adolpho was on today, was wondering if it was a shot at Rich.
I didn’t listen today there is a shot at Rich 2-3 times a week. Yesterday it was Oktoberfest and Lederhosen. Yesterday was caused by Wallach.

pretty sure they were referencing Rich’s livestream on IG over the weekend, where he and some other dude were at a bar blowing into a breathalyzer seeing how drunk they were.

I didn't hear any specific ones there other than mentioning how happy he is to still be friends with Crash and Adolfo. I guess that could be read into.

I did hear that, as well as Rich's bit which was as awful as you'd expect. Recording himself for drunken soundbites may be a new low but it's still better than ever hearing the 'other dude' (Emerson).

I'm not sure the last time I've heard Fred as glowingly happy as the few segments Adolfo was on yesterday and today.

(I love Fred, but I wonder how much of it is the thought of Adam 12, Adolfo, Crash and he all together while Rich flounders.)

Zo tossed a bomb as the show was ending just now, asking off mic "Have you been on Rich's show yet?" to Adolfo.

Adolfo responded that he hasn't talked to him in seven years.

I will say, Adolfo was a great presence on the show the past couple days. I'm sure he could do updates, right? ;)

The presence of Adolfo has been a blast from the past. I remember listening when the old T&R show was still on in the afternoons on WBCN. I believe it was 2008, and it was my first time listening to them. I was a Big Show listener at that time, but I remember when Dark Knight premiered and it was a bit of a cultural phenomenon.

Anyways, they had sent out Adolfo (in full Batman costume I believe) to talk to people who were lined up around the block to see the movie. I remember thinking it was so funny and off-the-wall. It was such a ridiculous premise and Adolfo sounded so sincere even though the whole thing was one long bit. I was hooked on the show from there, and this was before it was a sports talk show. They really caught lightning in a bottle with Mr. Gonzalez.

Months ago (I think actually before T&H were a thing, but T&R was already done) Fred essentially had everyone on the show do a roll call the last time they talked to Rich. Most of them said "not since he left the show" and Fred said he talks to Adolfo frequently and he told Fred he hasn't talked to Rich in years.

I think that was when the tide turned to "maaaaaaybe Rich wasn't the good guy in the show everyone loved, and Fred was despised behind the scenes"

The bit from circa 2010 with Adolfo doing drunken Red Sox recap and interviewing two random Europeans who said that “Boston ladies are very fat. I don’t like ‘fats’ ladies” is still my favorite bit of all time. I’ll never forget how hard Fred laughed at that one on the air. I wish I could find it somewhere. Adolfo always managed to get gold on the air.

I still say "Boston ladies are very fat" in the accent from that bit. That is a classic as much as "Hello, its Daylin".

Yeah, I've always remembered that one too. I think he was from Türkiye, and Adolfo was asking if the ladies were better back home or in Boston. There were so many great recaps with people like that, or the weird people that would just hang around Fenway. There was one summer in particular where there was just so many different funny recap guests. There was a guy that kept talking about stacking money, and another guy that repeatedly said "My blade of grass, and my field of grass..."

Adolfo was a huge part of the show back in the day, and he got great at getting interviews from people on the street, but it doesn't seem like those sort of strange people are around so much anymore.

Those are the two lines I remember best from single time(not Chili Guy, etc.) recappers.

It's honestly pretty disrespectful how Bert is always late to the show. If it weren't sponsored I bet they would stop having him on to avoid the headache

It is sort of, but they kind of don’t have a real show anymore so if his random drop in comes 30min late who cares? Yesterday Fred said he didn’t.

Yeah, that’s a biiiiiig maybe still for me. Freddy is a really clever guy in a good riffer, but he is clearly an incredibly prickly baby and his whole show is him crapping on everything and everyone around him. It’s kind of a survivor bias for his crew: yes the narcissistic baby currently employing you just asked what you think about the guy he craps on every other day…maybe you know what to say to stay employed? Or maybe the ones who stuck around do prefer Fred, it’s just a questionable (and most likely heavily biased) method for evaluation

It's pretty pretentious at this rate to still be this late due to traffic. Boston traffic sucks always, and everyone knows it. Time to be an adult and adjust, or just stop doing the show. For him to offer to stay an extra break may not always work and is an assy assumption to make that he gets to change the schedule of the show because he can't figure out traffic.

Fred must really like and respect Bert. If anyone else consistently showed up late to a segment and gave the same excuse every time, he would explode.

Have they said why Bert comes in to the station instead of doing the segment remote? Going from Duxbury to Waltham(?) during morning traffic sounds miserable. That would give me a panic attack.

Agree on both! To his credit, it almost seems Fred is now embracing it as part of the bit

Also - I may have answered my own question. Looks like Breer does a longer segment on Beetle & Zo, so he's in studio for multiple segments. Doesn't sound like getting in on time for the morning show is a super high priority for him.

It's funny to me that each of the shows is basically just missing the other person to round out the rough shapes.

T&H needs a more positive voice to counteract all the sourness. Someone who brings a lighter less "EVERYTHING IS AWFUL" type energy.

Whereas Rich needs someone to tone done his manic swings and keep things grounded, and can riff! All Rich's bits are dying without having someone with that wit willing to make jokes.

He's supposed to be in for the whole hour! He gets paid to do this! The lazy prick just can't ever be there on time so it always goes down to 1-2 segments

That’s not true at all. If he misses a segment he often stays for an extra one. He did it recently.

Last week I listened to the Breer segment where he was really self-satisfied about sending Fred a screen shot of Waze showing how bad traffic was. Dude, that behavior is more infuriating than being late. Get up earlier.

I'm not sure if people will know what I mean but I have no other way to put it. Ok so obviously the Pats are terrible, right? We all know that, and have known that the entire offseason. However, there is something about the way Wallach talks about them that drives me nuts. I just feel that every time he opens his mouth he's just trying to say things that Fred will agree with. And that isn't simply about the Pats or limited to them, but the way Wallach talks you'd think the Pats were supposed to be a playoff team and have been disappointing. He's discussing them with such disgust that it is so over the top. Anyone else?

I feel like Wallach's internal logic for his statements is: "These guys are all multi-millionaires, you expect them to be able to perform better for what they're getting paid. Sheesh."

Wallach always falls back on his WEEI “angry up the listeners so we can take some calls” radio voice, even though he’s been on a show for 15 years that doesn’t work that way. He’s hacky, there’s no way around it.

I need to give Fred some credit for a line he said about Wallach this morning. Wallach said something about making a blanket statement, and Fred responded that it was the only way Wallach could talk if he was out of the house, as he is carried around in an old fashioned bird cage covered with a blanket.

I have to think Wallach sees the clock ticking for his spot on the show. He disappears for long stretches of time and will then try to jump in on something where he sounds desperate to be a part of the conversation.

It's somewhat surprising how much space Rich takes up in Fred's head. I've checked out the show the last week or so and at least once or twice there's a direct shot.

Beasley could replace Wallach with a rando for pennies on the dollar (or just eliminate the Flash job all together), and no one would notice the difference. He's on borrowed time.

Wallach's not going anywhere. I'm far from his biggest fan, but he's in the third chair until he gets the Celtics job or he dies. To be fair, the latter is more likely.

Callahan is a great guest. He gets the vibe of the show and fits in well.

Yeah, I'm not a particular Wallach fan, and I wish RJ had replaced him(though I'm happy Ryan got the Bruins gig he wanted). However, I feel like some people think that Fred has just been stuck with Wallach against his will for 15+ years, and that's unrealistic.

I agree. Wallach is a great fit for the show, he has his place and it's better that he's there. Replacing him with a AI Bot isn't going to help anything.
