City were heavily linked to Ndombele for a while and I think he’s super interesting but in all the video of him I saw he looked incredibly one footed for a CM. Lots of his highlight videos were him making really impressive dribbles to shift the ball to his strong foot. He ran the show against City who press well so maybe it doesn’t matter but it gave me pause while watching him

@DrewDawg Are you able to pull those StatsBomb charts? Or only what they post?
I'm only seeing what shows up on twitter.

Is there a league-to-league adjustment being made for the quality of Ligue 1 vs EPL?
I mean, I can't say for sure, but I'd feel pretty confident that a company that dives as deep as they do into soccer analytics isn't missing out on things like league adjustments when comparing players. That said, I don't know how it manifests itself in those comparisons--that might be info one would need to pay for.

There are some cool things on there website though: https://statsbomb.com/2019/04/modeling-passing-uniqueness/

Lyon has set a June 30 deadline for N'Dombele transfer.

https://cartilagefreecaptain.sbnation.com/tottenham-hotspur-transfers-rumors/2019/6/3/18650879/tottenham-hotspur-transfer-news-tanguy-ndombele-lyon-champions-league

Spurs have reportedly bid €60 millionbut Lyon is looking for €80 million.

Aulas’ problem is that nobody other than Spurs have really shown serious interest. Juventus have reportedly called but no official bid has been lodged according to most credible sources. GFFN on Twitter stated that Juve had made a bid, but L’Equipe stated that it wasn’t true. Manchester City, long thought to be interested in him, have even cooled off and turned their sights to Rodrigo, who currently plays for Atletico Madrid. Aulas went as far as to publicly say PSG should bid for the player, but the French giants haven’t reciprocated and have locked into Lazio’s Sergej Milinković-Savić. If this trend continues, Aulas may be forced to bend to Levy at a lower price than his valuation.

I'm pretty sure there are no league adjustments in the Statsbomb numbers, they're actual stats.

There are also rumors swirling around another midfielder, Giovani Lo Celso from Real Betis. So it sounds like they're not naive about the state of their midfield.

I'm curious/terrified who ends up leaving. Eriksen to Real/Barca rumors have been around for years. Toby has 1 year left and a £25m release clause. Trippier seems to be pretty popular. Danny Rose seems to want to leave every year, but he's out of Poch's doghouse now so who knows.

I love Eriksen, but if they get a huge offer for him, I think it would make sense to sell on him. Toby would be a huge loss, he's an elite defender. Trippier's skill set would be a lot less important if they had a functional midfield, which it looks like they're trying to fix. But they still need to replace him; Aurier seems like he's on the way out too.

Llorente and Vorm are also both up. Ordinarily you wouldn't think they'd be all that difficult to replace, although there's little tangible proof Levy wants to sign anyone!

I wouldn't be shocked if they don't replace Vorm at all.

Gazzaniga is already the backup there and I could see them just going with Whitman as the 3rd keeper option.

Llorente does probably need to be replaced though. There are enough winger/attackers who can work as a central striker that they don't *need* to, but it would be nice to have that aerial option, or if not that specifically at least just the additional body such that Son, Kane & Moura don't all get ground into dust again next season.

Looks like Eriksen may be gone, with Real Madrid the most likely destination:

https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/tottenham/christian-eriksen-wants-tottenham-exit-try-something-new-real-madrid-links-a4159866.html?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1559727453

Getting a big fee for Eriksen would explain the large reported bids for Lo Celso.
The Eriksen-Madrid rumors have been around for awhile and I definitely think there's some fire to go along with the smoke. From RM's point of view though, they need to fix the defensive aspects of the MF. Casemiro is a fine pivot, but Modric and Kroos are no longer capable of pressing effectively (same with Barca with Busi and Rak). Eriksen is basically a straight swap for one of Modric/Kroos, but RM really need another B2B man in the MF, so that Hazard-Jovic-Vinicius (gulp!) can stay high.

My guess is that if a switch to Real happens, it happens very late in the window. Real has spent a lot of money already and will spend even more once the deals for Mendy and Hazard (one assumes) become finalized. Their modus operandi is to try and extract these last-year-contract players on the cheap (ie, the various De Gea sagas) but Levy is a very tough negotiator himself. Meanwhile Eriksen is probably looking at the ridiculous £400K per week contract Aaron Ramsey just signed with Juventus and thinking that playing another year in North London and leaving on a free doesn't sound like the worst idea.

Waiting until the end gets tricky though if Levy wants to use money from an Eriksen to buy other players.

Wouldn't it be like the summer of 2014, where Levy bought the Bale 7 (including Eriksen) over the summer and they didn't actually finish and announce the Bale transfer until after the third match of the season.

If Leicester can hold onto Tielmans and Maddison, I think they can finish top 6 this season. Their window is right now, I think they'll hold out for crazy prices on them.

But those are two guys who I'd love to see on Spurs

Tielmans is Monaco property (unless I missed some transfer season maneuvering), so it's not their choice whether he stays.

I don't see them selling Maddison, though, for that reason.

NDombele, LoCelso, Tielmans.... keep looking. Draxler alone as a MF upgrade would be disappointing.
Yeah, even if they keep Eriksen, they need to buy at least one and probably two central midfielders. If they sell Eriksen, they definitely need at least two central players, and three would probably be better.

At least Kane will get some time off now with the season over.

What's that? He just subbed on at half-time for England in the Nations League semi-finals? He's going to have no ankle left by the start of next season.

Don’t sleep on van de Beek. Not as creative as Eriksen, but very aggressive and positive with his passing. His role and style at Ajax would transfer over very well to Poch’s system, and van de Beek has proven himself on big stages. Three years left on his contract, but Spurs could sway him with a significant raise.

Twitter is hopping: Spurs agree to $82.5 million fee for Ndombele.

NDombele is just about a perfect fit. Good defensive numbers, good progressive dribbling/passing, can cover ground, only 22 and is likely to improve.

“Jean-Michel Aulas” is French for Daniel Levy. This transfer saga is going to be interesting. But likely worthwhile for Spurs. NDombele was a monster this past season.

Which comes first? First signing or next season's official kit release?
First signing is Jack Clarke, loaned back to Leeds for the season. 18 y/o English winger with considerable upside. Neighborhood of £10m.

The second, prize signing is all-world 22 y/o French central midfielder Tanguy Ndombele for £55m plus add-ons. Levy finally found the keys to the war chest. Nice statsbomb piece on the type of MF we can expect with Ndombele. Surely among the most coveted midfielders in the world right now, and one who should also have significant sell-on value when his contract winds down.

More from statsbomb on Ndombele: https://statsbomb.com/2019/07/tanguy-ndombele-marks-a-step-forward-for-tottenham-hotspur-their-first-superstar-purchase/

Spurs' business shouldn't be done. They still need to fix right back, and they need to figure out whether Eriksen and Alderweireld are staying. Eriksen in particular will need to be replaced if he leaves (Lo Celso?). If Toby goes, Foyth and Sanchez will probably compete for the spot next to Vertonghen, but they probably need another body. They could also use a backup striker since Llorente is probably gone and Janssen has not worked out.

Foyth played a little RB last season and just played the last two matches there for Argentina. Rumor has Poch thinking him the future, or at least part of it, on that side. Whether optimal, or just maximizing what's available remains to be seen.

That statsbomb article makes me giddy.
