Following a thorough review over the past 48 hours by our medical staff as well as by an independent neurologist with special interest in sport-related concussion today, it has been concluded that Jan Vertonghen did not suffer a concussion during Tuesday’s Champions League semi-final first leg against Ajax.Vertonghen has been ruled out for this weekend's game.
I don't think Spurs even have 11 healthy midfield and defensive players.Yeah, I should be less grumpy about this shit. Five straight 1-0 matches with four of them going the wrong way will do that to you.
So I assume they throw everything at Ajax and then start 11 mid and defensive players next Sunday?
It is probably a good thing that Everton was eliminated from the 2020 Europa Cup chase today, so they don't have anything to play for next week.
I did this at MSG for the '94 NBA Finals - Rockets/Knicks. I didn't have a rooting interest and went just for fun with some Knicks fans. It was a $5 gate which went to charity. The concession stands were open and I drank a lot of beer. It was a great time. I remember leaving the Garden and stumbling into a bunch of guys who were coming from a GWAR concert and they were dressed in armor, covered in stage blood, etc. I also remember being in an Irish pub-type restaurant later that week, with one of the games in New York just starting - they had the 3-4-5 games in that series at MSG, IIRC - and they switched the TVs off the game over to the OJ Simpson/Al Cowlings police chase in the white Ford Bronco. Everyone in the restaurant was super pissed off until word got out of what was going on and then people started coming in off the street to watch.Spurs might open up new stadium for fans to watch the final.
This is MASSIVELY EXCITING for women’s football at Tottenham Hotspur. As we’ve noted several times in the past, Tottenham Hotspur Ladies (Tottenham Hotspur Women as of next season) have existed as a semi-professional club since they were folded into the organization as an associate member. That means that the players are not full time professional athletes and are playing for very low wages in their spare time.
However, thanks to a mandate that took effect beginning this past season, only fully professional clubs can participate in the WSL.
Don't worry, signing players is not a thing that Spurs do.I did this at MSG for the '94 NBA Finals - Rockets/Knicks. I didn't have a rooting interest and went just for fun with some Knicks fans. So yeah, Spurs.
Don't sign Gomes please.

Draw today clinches Champions League for next season. Of course, winning in 2.5 weeks does the same thing.
Get healthy.
I can’t help you, but your request is kind of funny given your screen name.Anyone know a Spurs friendly bar in the North Shore (Amesbury area)? I'm there for the Champions League final (and a high school graduation) and don't want to be completely surrounded by Reds. Any idea on colors of Winner's Circle?
Hah, that's fair. Never even crossed my mind. Tangled Up In Lilywhite?!I can’t help you, but your request is kind of funny given your screen name.
First have was a slog and then a fun game broke out.Get rested.
It sure was a delight to see Eriksen nail that free kick. Glad to see him get his mojo back on those prior to the final.
Agreed, the Bale from that video is long gone and never really showed up in Madrid. If he replaces Llorente, I will be the first to welcome him with open arms. If he's intended to be a fulltime regular starter, no thanks. All that being said, getting Bale for $10M is very Spursy business. As someone who watches La Liga, my feeling is to stay away from Bale. I mean, Bale could replace Llorente and I suppose that exchange is an upgrade. But taking back Bale is betting on a return to the English-speaking world will lift his spirits and that, with a better attitude, Bale will return to his former glory.
There are some rumors that ManU might be looking to get involved. With Fulham going right back down, Sess is almost certainly leaving, because despite seemingly underperforming for a trash Cottagers team this season, he’s still a very young player with a huge ceiling, potentially a generational talent
A 10m transfer might be good business, but as reported this would be 10m for a one-year loan. Bale makes 15m euros/year, which is about 13m gbp. 23m gbp for one year of Bale doesn't sound so great to me.Agreed, the Bale from that video is long gone and never really showed up in Madrid. Honest question, but isn't it relative? In other words, compare this to the Gomes rumor. How much more would Bale cost than Gomes? Gomes' loan to Everton was $2.25M and you have to think that will at least double on an annualized basis. Is there somewhere to see wages on Transfermarkt? I also assume that if Spurs are for real on this that Madrid paying part of his wages would have to be part of the deal. I shit on Bale a lot, but getting him back to Spurs for reasonable numbers would be a coup.A 10m transfer might be good business, but as reported this would be 10m for a one-year loan. If Madrid are demanding a 10m loan fee, I can't see them then picking up part of his wages.Honest question, but isn't it relative? In other words, compare this to the Gomes rumor. According to Stavanger Aftenblad (paywalled, as reported by football.london), Tottenham have secured the signing of 15-year old Norwegian keeper Isak Solberg on a three year youth contract that could eventually turn into a professional deal. Solberg is a Norway youth international (he has his own Transfermarkt page) with caps at the U15 and U16 level and is being signed from Norwegian second division club Bryne FK. He’s 6’2” at age 15, so pretty good height for a young guy.
What do you mean by the bolded? It seems like you and I agree that 10M for a loan deal is steep, but if that's the case, then why would Madrid balk at paying some of his wages? If Madrid are demanding a 10m loan fee, I can't see them then picking up part of his wages.
For wage info I usually just google it. Google says Gomes makes 4.16 gbp/year, or less than a third of Bale's wages.
Opportunity cost does matter, but from that perspective I'd rather spend the money to fill a position of need. Spurs are pretty solid at the forward positions with Kane/Son/Lucas/Dele. They certainly could use some depth there and Bale makes them better on paper but I'd rather throw the big cash at midfield, or use that money to extend Eriksen.

I agree with you that it's the total transaction fee that matters. But because of that, I interpret Madrid's demand for a 10m loan fee as taking that into account, and therefore indicating they won't subsidize any of the wages. If Madrid were willing to pick up some of the wages, they wouldn't be demanding any loan fee at all. What do you mean by the bolded? From a practical standpoint, it would make sense to just balance out those numbers. In other words, agree on how much the "transaction" (fee + wages) should cost and simplify it.
Looking at it that way, let's compare Gomes and Bale. Gomes makes 4.16M in wages and likely will have a fee of ~5M for a total of ~9M. Would you rather have Bale at 12M? 15M?
I don't get this. Maybe I'm missing something but my read is that Madrid is demanding the higher loan fee because they will be paying some of Bale's wages so that Spurs will be responsible for something equivalent to what Kane is making. Thus not blowing up the wage structure.I agree with you that it's the total transaction fee that matters.
