I did. Harbaugh is spinning as he tosses it. Who knows where it went.
Looked like it went straight up. As opposed to 'out on the field.' And a GA has the laminates in his hands a second after the tantrum. He must've hauled ass to get it off the field that quickly. But I'm sure Harbaugh as an ex QB has pretty good play-sheet throwing strength. So you must be right. How could I ever doubt the voracity of a TV pbp/color announcing team?

"It landed right in the middle of the field he threw it so far"

Do you think the announcers are flat out lying? Is this another conspiracy against UM?
A piece of paper probably fluttered onto the field. It's still a stupid penalty to call. But it probably made zero difference to the score. It is, however, more evidence of the hometown refs' bias. How come no one had brought up the friendly butt-patting chat after Weber angrily threw a ball at an official?

And you followed my script. Intentional? I'm gonna say 'no.' You're not that clever.

Let me know when you see his play sheet actually fly out to the field of play:

Man, when you get proven wrong at the 0:05 mark of a video you posted, much like your "same offense, same game" video from earlier..........wow.

You guys really get quiet every time you are presented with facts. Actually, that isn't true, you just whine about something new.

Exactly. Except in this case, for some reason, Michigan fans aren't supposed to complain about them, even the obviously bad ones in OT that determined the game's outcome.

What calls or non-calls does Ohio have to beef about?
Determined? The 15 yard line is the goal line in OT?

It's actually not like risking anything at all. The officiating was awful, one-sided and the Big10 isn't even looking into it. And not just that crew. The crew that officiated the Penn State-MSU game is much worse on a regular basis.

Are you seriously arguing that you see no problems with fans refereeing games involving teams they're life-long fans of? You don't think other teams would have a valid complaint if every game at Michigan Stadium was officiated by an Ann Arbor crew?
I'm saying I trust that the B1G can properly vet referees to make sure one of the biggest games is refereed by an appropriately competent officiating crew. Having watched the game while cheering for Michigan, I largely believe that to be true. You have proven yourself to be delusional so I'm not exactly taking the words you type at face value.

I've never posted under any other name here.

Why don't you address the points I make in people's posts instead of name-calling and dick-wagging? I know you can do it. I've seen you do it once or twice.
Because it has already been done. You are off the rails. And frankly, it is providing good entertainment for the rest of us.

It's been proven in the past that he has really good throw power, but very little throw accuracy, so I don't doubt that it ended up at midfield.

Not answering facts and making shit up is your dept. I haven't been quiet. Just like the playsheet doesn't "fly out into the the middle of the field."

I didn't post a different video. You'll have snark at him. But you're probably talking about the one that showed Urban Meyer throwing his headset against Bama.

Okay, the subject of disagreement is clear now. I'm saying I don't trust the Big Ten to make sure that games are competently officiated.

https://www.google.com/amp/thebiglead.com/2016/11/29/this-conspiracy-theory-about-the-referees-in-ohio-state-michigan-has-some-merit/amp/?client=safari

I'll add that if the shoe were on the other foot, that if Ohio were to lose a big game because of calls or non-calls by hometown refs, they'd be screaming, not whining.

Again, next year at the Big House have the Big Ten assign an Ann Arbor crew and let's see if anyone complains.

I still can't believe I went into this game hoping Michigan would win (mostly because of Tom Brady as I have no allegiances to either team otherwise.) Luckily for me, a good portion of the Michigan fans in this thread gave me a good reason to start rooting for Ohio State as the game went on, so I ended up happy. As a neutral observer, this was a very enjoyable game to watch, looked to be officiated fairly throughout, and this game thread was fantastic until the game ended and the whiny Michigan fans appeared en masse. Get over it, guys, and get them back next year.

Well, if you find me entertaining, then I'm happy, and very much on the rails, since that's my main objective here.

Apparently, I've been misinterpreting your replies. They come across as juvenile and tetchy.

But unless I'm mistaken, you've never once directly addressed any point I've made and have instead whacked off for self-amusement or thrown poo.

They actually reached the OSU sidelines and OSU stole all of their plays the rest of the game which is why they weren't able to do anything in the 4th quarter. This game was rigged, they should replay it. Actually they should just award it to Michigan.

THE TRAVESTY.

It is as if every annoying fan base in America has come to this thread. If we could get some SEC fans in here that would really make things whole.
The last 25 years, Duke's premiere program has 5 national titles, tOSU's premiere program has 2. Two! In a quarter century.

Or 60-something years ago. Two of the refs were born in Ohio and are lifelong OSU fans.

Again, if the Big10 assigned an Ann Arbor crew to a game at the Big House and they made a series of questionable calls (or non calls) that cost Ohio a game, you're a fool if you think Buckeye fans wouldn't scream bloody murder. If ALL the bad calls went one way, they'd riot.

Deductive reasoning. Right. Tell me about deductive reasoning. I am making (mostly) arguments based on facts and reasoning. There are some others here who aren't making arguments at all, and are merely trolling and taunting. Here's reasoning:

Barrett's left hand was on the 15 yard line. His right hand, with the ball, was at least a foot behind his outstretched left hand. The ball never progressed forward beyond the blocker's backside. The blocker's backside was behind the 15 yard line. No first down. Game over. Or should have been.

Before that, the back judge did not throw a DPI flag on Ohio on a play that was similar to (actually worse than) an earlier play in which he did throw a flag on Michigan. That ref is a lifelong OSU fan. The same ref made other questionable calls/non calls, every one in OSU's favor. It's not unreasonable to allege bias, intentional or not. It's certainly not unreasonable to say neither OSU fans nor Michigan fans should be assigned to officiate UM-OSU games.

See? Facts. Reasoning. Analysis. Opinion. In the correct order. No name calling, taunting or malicious innuendo.

You are now arguing against multiple people, all of whom are telling you the play sheet went into the field. It has been reported in multiple outlets and was stated by the announcers.

Yes, you have earned the snark you are receiving.

I realize it has become common for people who have weak arguments to mock people they disagree with by calling them conspiracy theorists, but no one (that I'm aware of) is saying there was any anti-Michigan conspiracy.

Instead, Michigan fans and many "neutrals" are saying that the officiating sucked, benefitted Ohio throughout the game and that the generous spot on the 4th-and-one in the second OT cost Michigan the game. That the three key refs -- the back judge who only called DPI on Michigan players, the sideline "basketball" referee and the head referee who made and upheld "the spot" -- are Ohio natives and OSU fans didn't even come out until later.

That toss went to the middle of the field?? Is it even on the field?
Please drop the "where'd the paper fall" argument. It's pointless. It was a dumb call by a biased ref that almost never gets called on any other coach in any other game. But it didn't matter. OSU would probably have scored anyway. That call was the least significant of several lousy or questionable officiating decisions.

Good God, what has happened to this thread?

If there's anything less attractive than fans of the losing team insisting that the refs screwed them, I can't think of it.

A lot of flaws.

a) People said that UM fans were whiny prior to the game. They have proven this out. Once you have something that can be predicted and is reliable, it becomes fact.
b) Stop with the "Ohio people would whine too!" stuff. You don't understand how silly you sound.
c) Barrett's left hand was not on the 15, it was well beyond it from the closest angle. Just stop.
d) I explained the PI and you never responded. You honestly don't understand PI, but more importantly you fail to comprehend how many subjective calls are made in any given game. Whining about holding and PI are ludicrous, and you were complaining about both while ignoring it when someone took the time to point out that you were wrong.
e) You keep saying that MI was the better team, but they weren't. From the 3rd quarter on tOSU beat the ever loving crap out of UM and while tOSU struggled in the first half, UM was shredded in the second.
f) Yes, it is absolutely reasonable for people from in state to referee a game. Your claim that it introduces bias is insane. MLB umpires call games in which their childhood teams play all the time. Same with basketball. Same with the NFL. This is something you have built up in your head to mean something, and anyone who has ever been in a situation where ethics are involved recognizes how off the rails you are in your "analysis."

You and the clown army have continued to whine and whine about calls that were, at worst, close. You have been presented with facts repeatedly, ranging from the ludicrous whining about the hands to the face call, to evidence that Harbaugh threw his play sheet onto the field, to an explanation of what PI is. You have had multiple posters - even Michigan fans!! - come in and say "you guys are being ludicrous."

And yet you continue. So you are mocked. If you can't handle that then maybe message boarding isn't for you.

They are one of the top rated officiating crews in college football.
Sez who? Link?

The thought that someone who is from the Cincinnati area is incapable of reffing a game involving an Ohio school is beyond laughable.
No one says Ohio's native sons are "incapable" of reffing OSU games. We're saying they shouldn't. I'd say the exact same thing about Michigan fans refereeing UM-OSU games. The referees should be neutral, if only to avoid the appearance of conflict of interest.

Anticipating the verbal gymnastics to refute this one.
But what about that one time…:
Capron was lead official in 2015 when Michigan State beat Ohio State with a perfect season on the line and what would’ve likely been an easy route to the CFB playoff. Capron was also the lead official at the 2013 Big Ten Championship game where an Ohio State victory would’ve sent the Buckeyes to the national championship game. However, Michigan State won 34-24. One more for the conspiracy theorists, Capron was the lead official in 2010 when Ohio State went into Camp Randall and got lit up 31-18 by Wisconsin; Ohio State had 2 penalties for 14 yards in that game. That Buckeyes team finished 12-1.

Speaking of "whining," since this is SoSH, I should probably mention that I'm still sore about Deflategate and will argue/whine about the idiocy of the NFL "investigation," Goodell's fines and suspensions and the Jets-fanboys court decision with anyone forever. Heck, I'm still sore about Larry Barnett's non-interference call on Ed Armbrister in Game Three of the 1975 World Series.

Since you seem to be very interested in how officiating works, here's a too-long answer that's (probably generously) assuming that you aren't attempt to troll. Note I have no affiliation with the B1G, have never been to the Midwest, and could not possibly care less about either of these two teams. I have talked to several B1G officials.

First, the officials for a conference are drawn from the same footprint as the schools. The reason should be logistically obvious. Everyone on this lives in the Midwest. The crews at the beginning of the year are integrated geographically SPECIFICALLY to avoid this kind of dumb complaint. There will likely be an official from Ohio on EVERY crew in the B1G. Same, by the way, for Michigan. And yes, Michigan was represented on this crew as well.

Someone with even a passing knowledge of college football should know that the head referee (who, despite your post, has no affiliation with Ohio) has no input in the review process. You may be getting college football confused with the NFL.

The rest of this post is just misattributing who called fouls and who is supposed to call fouls. Most fans are under the impression that the official nearest a player should call fouls on that player, when instead keys are assigned to officials at the snap based on formation. This is why occasionally a flag will come from far away when actually that official had primary coverage.

The worst call in the game (in my opinion) was actually one that benefited Michigan. The officials incorrectly assessed a timeout on Ohio state for failure to wear proper equipment. This rule was changed two years ago, the current penalty is to send the player out of the game for one play (1-4-8 in the rule book).

Pardon me if I only address your substantive points.
c) Looking at the video again, Barrett's hand actually never touches the ground on or after the 15-yard line. Looking at this photo though, the ball was even further behind his outstretched left hand... and the 15-yard line.

http://michiganradio.org/post/bacon-referees-steal-spotlight-one-best-michigan-ohio-state-games-all-time

d) I understand the subjectivity of PI rules. I haven't said anything about holding calls. In fact, the only two calls I really care about are the missed DPI and spot in overtime.
e) I don't keep saying Michigan was the better team. I've said that the two teams are roughly equal, OSU maybe a little better.
f) "... it is absolutely reasonable for people from in state to referee a game." I simply disagree with your opinion.

Okay, one unsubstantive point:
a) "People said that UM fans were whiny prior to the game." "People say" a lot of things. People say Ohio fans are assholes, for example.

Let it go. Quit whining about the whiners and egging them (me) on. Ohio won a big game because the refs handed them an undeserved victory [edit:] and because Michigan shit the bed in the 4th quarter. Be grateful and gracious. Don't gloat. The only thing worse than a sore loser is a sore winner. Don't be that guy.
