There are some weird starting times today and tomorrow. This is your friendly reminder that tonight's game has a 6:10 starting time and tomorrow's game starts at 4:05.

Don't miss a pitch.

You're welcome.

Does anyone have any idea why they would start tonight's game at 6?

Random, but I went to the game yesterday and the time on the ticket stub was 6:10pm. They moved it back to 7:10pm at some point. Not sure why, but around 4pm yesterday I had a panic attack and started confirming start times on about 3 or 4 different websites.

Thanks for the heads up tonight.

Family friendly April.  Earlier start times to sell tickets on school nights.  They did it last year too.

Nothing says family friendly like Toga Tuesday.

Per Peter Abraham: Tonight's Red Sox game is a 6:10 p.m. start, the only one of the season. Chief operating officer Sam Kennedy said earlier today it's an experiment and something they could try again early in the season in future years.

You can't run another sports event up against something like the NCAA Women's national championship game.  Use your head, man. :)

They did three 6:35PM starts against Houston last April (last week of the month).

How is this an "experiment" if 6pm April starts were the norm until somewhat recently?

How recently are you talking, because in watching games for 30 years, I don't remember many 6pm starts at all.  What I do remember is night games starting at 7:30 on a regular basis, though.  There was a big deal made about shifting the time to 7:00 to be more "fan friendly".  That was in the 90s, IIRC.

Then it's possible I'm dating myself here, since I haven't lived in the Boston area in over ten years. I definitely remember most April night games starting at 6:05 when I was younger. I also remember those games being discounted as "family games" or something in some seating areas. I think it was partly done to have a bit more sunlight before the clocks changed, which used to be later.
