Well, I will say that I'd probably apeshit if it was the other way around, but it's sports and it's supposed to be entertaining, so suck it whiners.

Before the DEN/NE game two weeks ago the panel was talking about how they expected Manning to be the first unanimous MVP ever this year. Before the game where he was playing Brady. Who was a unanimous MVP. Pundits are so smart.

Amazing.

Lost in that is if you go to the article that brandon linked to, you'll see this little tidbit:

"According to retired DE Renaldo Wynn, new Rams DC Gregg Williams once told Wynn he'd stolen the Jaguars' offensive playbook prior to the 1999 AFC title game, when he was running the Titans defense."

Just sayin'……..

I don't think Peyton remotely gives a shit about anything other then the fact that he won, honestly.

Related fact I always thought was funny: the Jags played 18 games that season - they went 0-3 against the Titans, and 15-0 against everybody else.

Good.  Screw Manning.  Let's hope that this is the first slight, however minor, in a weekend of increasing disappointments, with the biggest to come by around 10 PM tomorrow night.

Lost in all this is the fact Russel Wilson got a vote for OPOY. Unless Jim Miller also cast that vote someone else has a lot of explaining to do.

After the great Pedro MVP screw job of 99, and the farce that is baseball HOF voting, I certainly can't work up any outrage on behalf of Peyton Manning on this. I'll just chuckle at the absurdity.

Can someone explain to me why Phillip Rivers won Comeback Player of the Year award?  WTF did he come back from, terminal douchiness?  After seeing that bolo tie he was sporting, it's clear he's no longer in remission.

You understand that this is a family thing, right? There is an enormous sense of Manning entitlement that has manifest itself in ugly ways. Peyton may not have a damn thing to do with it directly, but that's life.

Then there is the ESPN hype machine. It annoys everyone. The only conceivable way it could be worse than it is -- if Dick Vitale were doing the shouting.

Then, of course, you have the Brady aspect of this which resonates with the vast majority of posters here .

I can see why you are amused . Confused, not really.

I would be confused if people having rooted against Peyton for years, all of a sudden started rooting for him. Rooting against Peyton is perfectly consistent with past behavior for most pat fans. I hope he gets his ass kicked tomorrow, just like i did 2 weeks ago, and just like I did every week when he first became a significant threat to the team I root for.

It's not hard. It's fun to root against someone.

I guess you must be flabbergasted by the Derek Jeter hatred, then.
"It's so...gauche...to hate such fine fellows as Manning, Jeter and LeBron.  They are rare athletes, and should be revered and appreciatd by all."
