There is a motion-sensing trash can in the conference room at my office. Wave your hand over the sensor and it opens. Wave again and it closes. It is absolutely less useful than a simple foot pedal trash can. For the life of me, I can't figure out why anyone went to the trouble.
The Rabbit R1 device... it's just an expensive paperweight. I regret buying it.

You have to wave for it to close?
I have one at home that you wave to open, but closes automatically. I love it.
Having to wave to close it would be stupid.
People in wheelchairs, etc.
There is no reason these days for any office not to have accommodations for people with a wide variety of abilities.
I would think throwing the trash at it would activate the lid closing causing the intended trash to bounce off and careen around the room

My company has an unwritten - though deeply culturally ingrained - rule that no handless freaks are allowed in any conference rooms.
