Well, Dombrowski is known for building poor bullpens. He is trying to make up for it with the Sox, and the Tigers are trying to make up for it there.

As a Tiger fan, I love this (at least based on his numbers over the last few years). But I am a little nervous -- their track record trading for veteran closers in the past has been a disaster. They got 1 great year out of Valverde but virtually no value from Percival or Nathan. K-Rod is younger than those guys were, but he has a lot of mileage on him for a 33-year-old.

That's a great trade for the Tigers. A legitimate late-inning option in exchange for a Mauricio Dubon-level prospect.

Seems like a great trade for the Tigers. His numbers were great last year, and he has transitioned nicely to the "softer" throwing closer with his changeup.
